When I set TFC to Software render mode (yes, i use it because it looks so old-school), I can't see the weapon models when I use default_fov higher than 90. Although when I set it to 90 the weapons work fine, but I'm used to 120. Any ideas how to fix it?

Use opengl, the won version has it, so does quake II, so there is nothing old school about horribly pixelated textures.

Yes, I'm using OpenGL all the time, but I got somehow bored of it. And I see Software mode funny.

you can play with opengl and NOT have filtered textures you know, the name of the filter is GL_LINEAR_NEAREST or something and there's a console command to set it.
play around with the gl_ commands.
