You know, I'm not on the development team, but it annoys the
shit
out of me when people who do not work on the mod and are mere gamers whine about progress about a project.
KevinLancaster, what good is it that you know the 411 about a mod's progress? What good does it do, please tell me. I seriously would like to know, since it's like solving the reason of existence or finally understanding and comprehending a theory of truth. You aren't the only person looking forward this modification of Half-Life; the whole reason some people, including me, joined the forum to see HL:E released.
...but that doesn't mean you can get the right to push developers into doing something for you.
Everyone here on this forums works for nothing. Nada. Nothing. Nope. We don't do it for any monetary amount. Thus, we don't have a "right" to inform you of recent happenings. No one does. It is ultimately the developers decision to release any form of media that's
ACTUALLY WORTH SHOWING
.
I get a ton of people asking me to ask Toadie on when SC4 will be released, since they got all their messages ignored by Toadie.
This. Annoys. The. Shit. Out. Of. Me.
Every single one of them, I tell them the same, exact thing.
Me: "Why do you want to know?"
Usually they say: "I wanna know when its going to be released >_>"
Me: "Dude, you can't rush these things. Developers work on tight schedules to make sure all files and work is being done. In a gist, giving a release day just offers welcoming to stress."
Them: "Um, but I want this mod -_- Plz tell me when it be relased I wanna see if they are working on mod"
Me: "Why do you wanna' know if they are fucking working on the mod? They are people you know, they do this on their fucking free time."
Them: "I think SC4 is dead -_-"
Me: "Just because they don't post media for 2 months doesn't mean it's fucking dead. You aren't on the development team, you don't know what the fuck they are doing."
Them: "Gamers have the right to know about a mod they want."
Yes, I did hear that quote. Word for word. After that, I would usually repeat myself until they had their heads too heavy for any more argument.
You know, KevinLancaster, your question of "Hello?" really pisses me off. In many ways. You have no fucking right to know the progress of this mod. When Matt has something useful to show, then he will. Go help Matt work on the mod if you think you're so better than him. To be honest, people don't particularly develop games just for the sake of others, they do it for fun. You don't pay them for any progress, nor do you do anything that would make thier development rise in any significant way. All you do is ask petty, stupid, idiotic questions. A suggestion, ok, even I would accept that. But asking for regular progress on a mod? Fuck off.

man if people asked me directly "when is SC4 coming out" I'd say what I'll always saaqy " goddamn soon, now shut up and eat your stupid pie.". Also SC4 - NOT DEAD. THere's a FRESH bloody trailer, and we're getting a pretty fast turnover on the SVN HLE - PSEUDO-DEAD. CYROGENICALLY STORED.
Anyway, well said Diamond, you are on the money.

Matt has a nice updating speed, It synchronizes well with my thinking speed.
Also, I don't are if HL:E gets released in 23 years, I don't think I suddenly will stop liking half-life enough so that I won't want to play such an awesome mod.

If Mod Developpers have to deal with guys who ask when it's released, they loose precious time which could be spent on actually modding

With Decay PC being released after being considered dead, people should stop this bullshit. They should realise just like Decay, it takes time and update intervals aren't constant.
