Yeah, it's dead. Sorry. See here (http://hl-improvement.com/forums/hlshd/a-very-un-official-release/). Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: flynia on September 13, 2005, 10:02:38 PM I hate to say this but!

Keep it up guys. I've been keeping my eye on the other thread and now theres a whole section for it. :)
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Nelo Angelo on September 13, 2005, 10:19:37 PM Its good to see you got your own part of the forum.
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: JoshuaC on September 13, 2005, 10:22:32 PM Awesome You guys have done great work.
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frostbite on September 13, 2005, 10:29:19 PM yay....yayyay!
;D edit: i never remeber posting this =\ Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frraksurred on September 13, 2005, 10:32:51 PM Thanks everybody.
We are indeed excited and plan to make the most of it. None of us intend to be wasting any of the space HIT has granted us. Your suggestions are welcome to help us do that... in fact we have a child board for that very thing. ;D Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: beretta on September 13, 2005, 10:58:53 PM yay YAY no more low polly foe me YAY GOOD LUCK ;D
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Anakite on September 13, 2005, 11:11:06 PM I thought you said that coat thing was fixed...
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: .:TWP:. Jazz_man on September 13, 2005, 11:19:22 PM A huge congrations on my part, for getting this section of fourm. ;D
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frraksurred on September 13, 2005, 11:25:45 PM I thought you said that coat thing was fixed... Nope, unfortunately not. I recall saying we had some one looking at it, but not fixed. Perhaps I mis-worded things and didn't catch it. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Drax on September 13, 2005, 11:37:02 PM Just a fan saying 'hi!'. I will gladly beta-test out the release for you, and you have my word I will not spread the beta-ness around...not even on my Lost Toast!
One interesting little thing I ran iinto the other day was a mod that added Half-Life: Uplink into the main Half-Life game. Along with doing that he changed the Barney that's banging on the door at the very beginning, you know *the* Barney, so that he wasn't wearing his armor vest yet. ...which if you played Blue-Shift... well anyways. Do you have the means to switch out a specific barney in this way? Would be kinda neat, though I imagine your pack is more generic in how it swaps out models. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frraksurred on September 13, 2005, 11:49:35 PM Just a fan saying 'hi!'. We have the ability to add bonus material that can be chosen as a replacement to the default, but all the default models aim to stick to the original look of the game. Does that answer your question? Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Drax on September 13, 2005, 11:55:41 PM Sort of, I think your confirming what I already know. If model is X -> Replace with Y
This is a case where I would love to see this one specific Barney switched to a model not wearing a vest, even though originaly it was one of the generic vest wearing Barney's (I'm also assuming without confirming that you even have a non-vest wearing model to swap it with.) Anyways, not a big deal either way. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Grunt002 on September 14, 2005, 02:34:38 AM If you're thinking about Barney without vest, then either BM:S or HL:E will include that.
Anyhow.. would add me to *cough*beta-testing*cough* list, yes? Yes everyone surely are waiting for 2.0.. (Like me :O) Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frraksurred on September 14, 2005, 03:30:16 AM Sort of, I think your confirming what I already know. If model is X -> Replace with Y Correct. If the default was the vest wearing Barney, then the optional bonus material would be the non-vest wearing Barney. This would be chosen during installation, and could always be changed by rerunning the installer and only selecting the model you wanted to overwrite. -- Anyhow.. would add me to *cough*beta-testing*cough* list, yes? We will be posting a link for the beta release when it is ready. Everyone who frequents these forums will have access to it. Our only stipulation is that no one advertises it, as it will not be the "official" release. We want to complete beta-testing before the mass public gets wind of it. I've laid all this out in my intro post, please pan up and read it. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Anakite on September 14, 2005, 04:43:57 AM What I think he meant was "Can I change this one barney model and keep all of the others the same?"
But I think that would mean going into the map editor and creating a new ID such as barney_vestless and replacing the barney at the door with "barney_vestless", and giving him the correct animations. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Zavaro on September 14, 2005, 06:10:25 AM We will be posting a link for the beta release when it is ready. Everyone who frequents these forums will have access to it. I've laid all this out in my intro post, please pan up and read it. Roger that. No word will come from my mouth about this beta. I don't know if you could simply change the model of a certain single entity in Source, Anakite. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Drax on September 14, 2005, 06:16:25 AM Anakite nailed what it was I was asking about. Sounds like a job for a different mod :)
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frraksurred on September 14, 2005, 06:40:51 AM Thanks for the assistance Anakite. Good to know some one's paying attention to the details.
-- I have updated the first post with the latest pic of Romka's hassassin using Fury_161's normal and env maps. She's a beauty. :o Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: gregs2k2 on September 14, 2005, 01:34:39 PM Hey all, long time reader, first time poster (I think). Been following this pack since it's inception. I have to say i'm impressed. Simply can't wait to get my hands on this.
Keep up the good work! Regards. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Sgt Wilko on September 14, 2005, 06:40:47 PM Oh god...
Firstly, anyone who asks to "*cough*beta-testing*cough*" will not. You ask politely in english and you might. Secondly, you cannot just change 1 barney in the whole entire game. That would require coding or at least ripenting and a different model. I fail to see the point. Thirdly, why are you asking people to vote for a bonus pack? It makes no sense. 'We' have only converted models. Frraksurred and Flynia have only just started this. Romka, Barneyinblue, Myself and even Baracuda are responsible for the creation of this pack. BUT, without all the modellers who have worked hard over the past years, we could not have done this. So stop worshiping Frraksurred, and thank Romka, Gearbox, A.I and all the other people who made it possible. Oh, and if you really do feel like worshiping someone, leave the computer and get outside - you know, the place with green stuff and the sun. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: James on September 14, 2005, 07:53:11 PM I like how people think that just by saying "hai can I beta test?" They'll get the job...
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: HoHSilent on September 14, 2005, 08:00:23 PM im not gonna say hai can i beta test im gonna say hey guys wats up. ive been checkin this mod out for a while, u may have seen me around the forums some, and i have the meager v1.0 u guys released, and despite the ragdolls i love it. so im here to ask if i may have access to the betas, i mean if u think im not credible check out the Half-Life 2.5 mod (forum is siosphere) or check out the HL2 Substance....im an official beta for the hl2.5 and i am unofficially working with betas in the substance 1
so if u want my help im open...if not, ill just go stand in the corner...lol but no its cool either way Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Cpl_Death on September 14, 2005, 08:01:34 PM K ill try this approach
Please let me beta test or...... your fucking dead mate ill smash yer house up and kill your family That approach works best ;) Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: James on September 14, 2005, 08:07:28 PM im not gonna say hai can i beta test im gonna say hey guys wats up. ive been checkin this mod out for a while, u may have seen me around the forums some, and i have the meager v1.0 u guys released, and despite the ragdolls i love it. so im here to ask if i may have access to the betas, i mean if u think im not credible check out the Half-Life 2.5 mod (forum is siosphere) or check out the HL2 Substance....im an official beta for the hl2.5 and i am unofficially working with betas in the substance 1 so if u want my help im open...if not, ill just go stand in the corner...lol but no its cool either way -_- I think I just lost my faith in humanity... Besides, the way I see it, if they want me to beta test, they'll ask me. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Sephiroth on September 14, 2005, 08:28:07 PM Perhaps they can try leaving fag noobs out of the beta testing and get some people who know what they're doing.........
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Hircine on September 14, 2005, 09:07:08 PM Beta testing will be open to people who frequent the forums and ask nicely..well it said that on another thread.
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Sephiroth on September 14, 2005, 09:07:49 PM You'll notice the "(?)" after the word frequent in the post of the person that said that.
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Drax on September 14, 2005, 11:41:58 PM That would require coding or at least ripenting and a different model. I fail to see the point. I'm not surprised. The point being that in Blue-Shift you play that very Barney and in that game your not wearing any armor or a side arm yet. You pick that stuff up moments later in the locker room. I didn't know if this could be eidted with a simple script to have that Barney reference to a model not wearing armor. People really into the Half-Life story would appreciate that nice little touch if it was thrown in. But as I said it's not a big deal, and as I have found out, not as easy to implement as I had hoped. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Grunt002 on September 15, 2005, 01:33:55 AM You'll notice the "(?)" after the word frequent in the post of the person that said that. Wait.. wasn't I the person that said that? I'm sorry... Actually I mean some people won't even have access to it, even thought he/she posted alot (of SPAM). :-\ Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frraksurred on September 15, 2005, 05:01:15 AM Beta testing was to be released generically, to whomever traveled through this forum and found the link... which are primarily our fans.
However there is some disagreement within the team concerning this so we are going back to the drawing board and coming up with a new plan. I apoligize for the confusion, we should have it sorted out shortly. Stay tuned to the first post of this thread for current information. Guess no Beta testing option for me :'( Anyway, good work guys... Not good enough to be in beta tester... Title: SV: HL:S:HD News Post by: Anton on September 15, 2005, 04:29:17 PM Well hello.. I just found this section even if im the biggest lurker in the world and have all too much time..But Frraksurred!(the only who will understand this) The same topic is here too AND locked? ??? Our previous home was the "HL Source High Definition" thread in "Source Engine Discussion". It served us well for 90 some pages, but growth was nudging us to expand. Consequently we have moved here. The old thread has been moved as well, but was locked in the process in order to promote movement into the new froums. We have devided many of the topics we used to talk about in the old thread into different forums in an attempt to create some more organization and make it easier for you all to find the info you are needing (without sifting through 90 pages or asking the same questions every other page, ;D ). The old thread will be missed, but it has been replaced with a whole new world of potential. :) Title: SV: HL:S:HD News Post by: Anton on September 16, 2005, 07:26:39 AM Sounds neat! But.. But.. You were close to 100 pages! Well guess its nice this way.

Not good enough to be in beta tester... Thats not true m8, Beta Testing isn't dependant on how many posts you have. I never understood that idea, I'd rather have a sensible guy whos posted 5 times compared to an idiot that spammed his way up to 500. Judging by your posts, you seem to be nice, sensible person. So we'll see. ;) Second post here. Thanks you for the models arg I can't wait to try this out! :D What? Are you saying that you have the models? Any news on the beta? Its been quiet lately. Its been quiet for less than 2 days.... ..But Frraksurred!(the only who will understand this) The same topic is here too AND locked? ??? Yeah, moving a thread. Thats too much for the rest of us to understand. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Cpl_Death on September 17, 2005, 01:48:09 PM I'd like to beta test but I probably wont get a chance :(
Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: flynia on September 17, 2005, 02:01:27 PM Guys just relax for the moment ok... like Wilko has said its been 2 days... The team will let you know when everything is comming ok :) For now i reccomend you keep your eyes on the news page ok :) Once everything is decided by the team we will let you know.
Please just relax for the moment and have patience ok :) Cheers flynia Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Anakite on September 17, 2005, 03:36:14 PM Well said.
No one says anything, but then the phrase "Beta-Test" is uttered... Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Frraksurred on September 17, 2005, 04:33:56 PM What? Are you saying that you have the models? He may have just found out about v1.0 and downloaded them, but no one outside of us has the the v2.0 models. -- A word about beta-testing. This has been the topic of much debate. We want to bring the best pack to the public we can (which means testing on a wide variety of hardware), and we want to maintain some degree of organization of info during beta-testing (which means controlling who and where the beta gets released to)... so we have been tossing around a few ideas. We have members from Germany, England, Turkey, America and Australia, so with the different time slots and every one's schedules, communication can some times be slow. Bear with us and we will get a solution ironed out. I've given the team a week as a goal to come up with an agreeable resolution, so stay tuned for updates. Title: Re: HL:S:HD News Post by: Labcup on September 17, 2005, 06:47:51 PM I really like the normal maps on the assassin! great work! I hope all models will have those!

On YOUR assasin it looks good Romka! It seems like all stuff beeing made for HLS HD is great stuff to me. ;D Like Romka said, normal maps on low res textures will not make much of a difference. In fact in some cases, with the way the normal mapper "interprets" height and depth, it can make a texture look out of place. Normal mapping certainly adds a realistic feel to some textures, but only with some play testing do we know if it is actually going to add something favorable to the model. -- Just a new watcher in the wings I guess... Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Dowie100 on September 24, 2005, 10:20:31 PM Cant wait to try out your beta, ive been following your progress, and you have done an amazing job!
Btw your beta comes out on the 2 year anniversary of the Half Life 2 release date(lol). Ohh yeah onto my question, on the Steampowered forums we have a mod that allows you to play Coop and DM in Half life Source, he has also converted Crossfire to the source engine, are you going to test it for that mod at all? If you wanna try it all files are on my server: http://www.members.lycos.co.uk/sudden/hls/ its the rar files, get v1.5 it has some fixes. The server one, put the hl2 folder in your source ded server folder, and all the other files goto the HLS directory. Enjoy. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 24, 2005, 10:37:55 PM Cant wait to try out your beta, ive been following your progress, and you have done an amazing job! Btw your beta comes out on the 2 year anniversary of the Half Life 2 release date(lol). Thank you... and I thought of that myself, lol. Ironic. Quote Ohh yeah onto my question, on the Steampowered forums we have a mod that allows you to play Coop and DM in Half life Source, he has also converted Crossfire to the source engine, are you going to test it for that mod at all? Very interesting. We had planned to convert all the models we have into HLDM:S when it is released but I would be glad to take a look at your mod in the meantime. Thanks for the info and link. I will check it out. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Dowie100 on September 25, 2005, 11:32:32 AM Im not part of its dev team, just hosting it, I didnt write that very well.
He posted how to make maps for HLS as well. Copy the material folder from the gcf to the HLS folder Load HL2 DM in the SDK Load Hammer add HL1 FGD Change all directories from HL2DM to Half-Life Source Start mapping! Converting maps like ETC are quite difficult with the textures, none show up, and all that did exist use Source's different file system. I know because I tried it a few weeks back. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sarge McCain on September 26, 2005, 07:43:37 AM Not to divert the topic flow or anything, but I'm really warming up to the idea of a bonus pack. The additional models will give a lot of replayability to the game, especially if one wants to do original weapons first and newer gen versios later, to get some perverse pleasure out of playing the game almost like the very first time... :P
Anyway, sounds good, and looks good. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 26, 2005, 07:53:18 AM ...I'm really warming up to the idea of a bonus pack. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: j0nathanbs23 on September 28, 2005, 06:07:42 AM Just to let you guys know the sdk has been updated.
Well I can get the model viewer to work now anywho. :o Not sure bout the code or anything. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 28, 2005, 06:30:53 AM Thanks for the update j0nathanbs23, I'll be sure to update it tonight.
Hopefully it will fix some of the issues I'm having since the last Source update. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: VectorW8 on September 28, 2005, 10:01:38 AM All I want to say is good job. This is the reason why hard work pays off. I still hope I'll be able to try this pack, before it's too late.
The fact that I ship out to Air Force basic in Lackland AFB on Nov. 28. Along with the 6 week absence I'll have with the forums, and a month long absence after 1 or 2 weeks of R&R after basic to have to do advanced training. I attained a jopb as a weapons specialist. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on September 28, 2005, 10:23:06 AM I'm going to have a look into this bug now
EDIT:- On closer examination the houndeye dosent appear to have a *.phy file in the \models directory... very odd! Cheers Ian Houndeye: Disappears briefly when killed, only seems to be in “Zen”. This may be due to a missing animation. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 28, 2005, 01:24:44 PM All I want to say is good job. This is the reason why hard work pays off. We'll get you models before you ship, even if it's only the best beta we can muster! ;D You contact me directly if anything changes, you got that soldier! *salutes with utmost respect* -- EDIT:- On closer examination the houndeye dosent appear to have a *.phy file in the \models directory... very odd! Now that you mention it, they did all seem to die the same way. It would also explain a bug I noticed in Zen. We may have to shag the files from the GCF's. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Anakite on September 28, 2005, 02:44:18 PM lol.... Shag....
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on September 28, 2005, 03:42:13 PM I've had a chat to Barneyinblue and he has sent me a working version of the Houndeye. I've compiled the model and it should work fine :). I've emailed it too Frrakk and all should be well :)
*Salutes VectorW8* Well done marine :) Cheers flynia PS - Shag LOL Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Dowie100 on September 28, 2005, 07:08:17 PM cant wait till friday, please dont release at some god forsaken time for us GMT guys like Valve does.
I will test your pack with the DM+Coop mod. Btw have you considered doing a port to Garrys mod? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on September 28, 2005, 07:12:19 PM Why would we? theres no point of testing it in Garry's mod. We need to test the models in the environment that they would be in. That and I completely dispise that mod.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Anakite on September 28, 2005, 09:42:37 PM Hey, it's a pretty cool mod... although a port would be a waste of time.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Zavaro on September 29, 2005, 04:01:40 AM No Garry's mod for the time being. That'd be quite pointless. This is a beta test, not a physics simulation. All that Gmod would help is with the ragdolls.. which have almost all been fixed now (I think).
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 29, 2005, 04:54:34 AM All that Gmod would help is with the ragdolls.. which have almost all been fixed now (I think). Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Cpl_Death on September 29, 2005, 08:12:43 AM lol release draws ever sooner
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: darkcloud on September 29, 2005, 09:22:45 AM Wow , I just have seen the normals and they look great! , wonderful work I am really waiting this mod and I know it will be one of my favourites . Congratulations to all the team.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Kiwi: Source on September 29, 2005, 09:36:15 AM Love the "normal map" Houndeye head! The eyes have depth and don't look like they were sprayed on. This is suprisingly deep for a model mod pack. Keep up the great work! ;D
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sephiroth on September 29, 2005, 10:46:57 AM Wow , I just have seen the normals and they look great! , wonderful work I am really waiting this mod and I know it will be one of my favourites . Congratulations to all the team. When did this become a "mod"? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on September 29, 2005, 10:51:29 AM Managed to fix the "scientist glasses" bug by including a Alpha Chanel and removing 90% of the VMT file details :)
See the bugs section for details Cheers flynia Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 29, 2005, 01:08:25 PM When did this become a "mod"? Lol, the word does get pretty liberal use. To clarify, we are just a model / texture replacement pack (which I guess is still "modifying" the original files). We are just very serious about bringing the best quality models / textures we can! ;D -- very cool point out on the normal maps, makes me wanna use gimp now GIMP does add a little extra control over your generic normal map generator, but all by itself, it still will not output the results you see in my comparison shots. I had to edit the picture the map was made from in a way I knew the plugin would interpret heighth and depth. Once I can get some ingame shots I may open a thread with the details. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: darkcloud on September 29, 2005, 04:23:38 PM When did this become a "mod"? Since it's a modication of the textures / models and some archives of HLS . If there is modification then it's a mod , if you dont like the word "mod" i can use the word "thing" or "files" . Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sephiroth on September 29, 2005, 08:44:00 PM Since it's a modication of the textures / models and some archives of HLS . If there is modification then it's a mod , if you dont like the word "mod" i can use the word "thing" or "files" . Now THAT is going to confuse people... when most refer to a mod they mean a third party modification of Half-Life or Half-Life 2, not replacements of models, textures, sounds, etc. in the game. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Drax on September 29, 2005, 10:35:38 PM Right, I don't think this is set in stone but generaly this would be refered to as a model and texture replacement pack. It's an override to the existing content. Mod usualy implies adding new unique material and / or scripting. You still see the same things you would expect to see in a normal game of HL:S with this, just the quality has been greatly increased.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: VectorW8 on September 29, 2005, 10:57:24 PM So this is just, what you or I would call an an update to the shitty models. Hence, it's not a mod.

This is just a spit shine, no renivation of code here. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on September 29, 2005, 11:41:00 PM Unless you count the hours of effort we have put into Ragdoll Code, Texture Conversion and other Such examples.
I truely believe that we are a mod... as we modify the game itself :) Cheers flynia Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Shiroi Len on September 29, 2005, 11:45:57 PM This is like modding to the level after the next level. Aka modding to the MAX².

Perhaps i should have mentioned that we added the ragdoll for the models that have been updated :) Actually in truth Sgt Wilko, Barneyinblue and Romka really deserve the majority of the credit for doing this. Well Done Boys! Friday approaches :) - I'm aussie so its friday already LOL Cheers flynia Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Zavaro on September 30, 2005, 03:47:13 AM Friday is apporaching.. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on September 30, 2005, 03:51:02 AM I can cut the suspense with a knife ;)
What are we more looking foward to... this pack or the "Steam Bugger it All Up" Fix ;) Cheers flynia Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 30, 2005, 04:40:05 AM Friday is apporaching.. I wonder if there is a set time? I wish, but I'm afraid not. I will be uploading the files when I get to work, provided I don't have an immediate assignment. If not, it will be waiting until I get off work. It is going to take me about an hour to do all I need to do and I don't have keys to get there early. I'm on American Central Standard time so morning for me will be in about 10 hours. - Do we need to argue as to if we are a "mod" or not, is it that important? ::) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Shiroi Len on September 30, 2005, 05:53:20 AM This is like modding to the level after the next level. Thanks for asking. ;D Title: SV: News & Updates Post by: Anton on October 05, 2005, 08:44:43 PM Oh i noticed one thing on the first post.. The bump/normal-map is a bit pointy on the eyes isnt it?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on October 05, 2005, 11:33:13 PM Good observation. It kind of looks like it in that pic, but when you have the map in a 3D viewer they look more round then they ever have.
Title: SV: News & Updates Post by: Anton on October 06, 2005, 07:40:33 PM Ok.That's nice.. Wish i could get Source working again..
Title: SV: News & Updates Post by: Anton on October 15, 2005, 11:18:21 PM It has been very dead around here...... Why doesn't anyone say something? This look so good i almost fell of my chair first time i saw the Assasins-shot! PLEASE DON'T LET IT DIE!!!
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on October 16, 2005, 02:26:01 PM Ummmm... nothing is dying... we just are all sleeping and very busy with life matters at the moment.

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on October 22, 2005, 07:09:58 PM they kinda look in some parts to deep =\ but its nice =p looking forward to next release Are you talking about some of the other models? The tentacle has no normal mapping as of yet. I have noticed on a few of the models, that the normal maps incorrectly represent the surface they are applied to. This is inheirent to texture generated normal maps. It can be over come to a large degree, but it takes some texture editing skill and a lot of time and work. This is what I have been working on most, but progress is slow. I need new software, some training and a lot more free time. ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frostbite on October 22, 2005, 07:38:36 PM Are you talking about some of the other models? Man this is looking great, i just have 1 question. Since you guys are making this hd pack, which i appreciate, is it possible to insert custom sounds with the weapons in the hl:s directory?
i dont want it to be out of sync when i shoot. i have old sounds that i want to use, will the animations be similar to the previous hl guns? thx Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on October 25, 2005, 06:29:50 AM The weapons that we add to the mod will all have the correct sounds with them :)
Any of the custom conversions we do as part of the bonus pack will also have the necessary custom sounds as well. The animations themselves will mainly be the originals released by Valve so most of the content should be in sync. Maybe some of the other team members can clairfy this for me ;) As for using your own custom sounds... well thats a bit out of the scope of this mod... but if placed in the right directory they should work :) Cheers flynia Hello everybody, im just some random guy who came across this hd pack after searching for like forever. I didnt manage to download before you took the files off. Am eagerly awaiting the release of 2.0. Any idea how far this is away now? Thanks Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on October 29, 2005, 11:34:15 AM We Still have quite a few number of bugs too fix with the beta before any official release.
The best guess i could give at this rate would be "when its done". I heard rumor that we were looking at before the end of the year. But that is pure speculation at this point. Cheers flynia Hi guys, I didnt manage to download before you took the files off. Am eagerly awaiting the release of 2.0. Any idea how far this is away now? I made the statement in another thread that I would like to have it done before the end of the year, but that is no garuntee that it will be. With what still needs to be done, chances are we will not be... but we can always hope. ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Anakite on October 29, 2005, 05:30:09 PM Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on October 29, 2005, 06:23:48 PM Afraid so partner.

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: DKR1138 on November 18, 2005, 10:55:37 AM Yes, I definately would like to see some new stuff... are you guys still sharing textures with HL:E?

I'd go with my own but that looks like some weird headcrab mating ritual... or maybe some weird Fraternity type thing ;)... his part of "Kappa Kappa Delta Lambda Crab" BTW :P All in all great work all... my avatar dosen't feel so lonely anymore :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on November 22, 2005, 03:36:54 AM Now I need a bumper sticker with the head crab in my Av and the saying:

ANd yes, Marphy's is awesome. But back to HL:S:HD+SDCONPRO (Half-Life Source HD and SD CONversion PROject)... Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: candle_86 on November 23, 2005, 04:03:44 AM IS it ready yet, I really loved playing the beta. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on November 23, 2005, 07:18:39 AM Thanks for the support we definatly appreciate it :)
As for the pack... no... not ready for official release... yet... stay tuned! We are all pretty much on holidays now until janurary... check the first post for more details. Updates added! Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: halflifedave on November 26, 2005, 12:19:52 AM I've added Hawk's tentacle reskin, WP's zombie (added bumpmaps), and scientist to Source if you guys were still interested in them (you would still have to get their permission for releasing it though).
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on November 26, 2005, 09:35:06 AM I've added Hawk's tentacle reskin, WP's zombie (added bumpmaps), and scientist to Source if you guys were still interested in them (you would still have to get their permission for releasing it though). Well... maybe a future trade would be good, but we already have those models converted with the skins, so please feel free to inform us if you want to trade any other models. I can't see it happening by the end of this year really. PS: Didn't you want me to convert a barney model a while back? I never recieved the files - I'm still good to do it, however, I'm doing coursework and mocks for the rest of the year, so it'd be low down on my to-do list. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on November 30, 2005, 02:30:16 AM Could you elaborate on "new textures thing" so we know what you mean?
Also, our project deals with the Source version (.gcf files), not the original version (.wad files). I'm not sure if we will be able to help you, but we'll try. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Rhythm Of Youth on November 30, 2005, 07:27:30 PM there was some big assed thread (51 pgs) on a link to a site you guys gave me, and it was a guy making all new textures.
personally i like HLS but the npcs don't talk to each other any more and that ruins the whole game in my opinion, so i just try to make HL1 better and better you know? i have aspergers syndrom and thats my special subject Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 01, 2005, 12:04:26 AM Ah, the thread was Besli's texture pack, which we have incorparated into our project. The link we gave you was to an old thread from when that project was still alive. Directions should have been in the thread for installing it into HL1.
Your NPC's are not talking to one another? Are you using v.1 of our project, or Valve's HD models? HELP ME i want to play tonight! I'd love to help you, but I don't know what the problem is. The texture pack and the NPC's talking to one another are two totally different problems. If you are using the HL1 engine then you will probably have to go to the "Help Desk (http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?board=13.0)" forums to find out why they are not working because we only work with the Source engine port of the game (HL:S). The same goes for the texture pack; if it is in a WAD file then it has to be installed into the original HL1, not the Source version. Since we don't deal with it and it has been a long time since most of us have modded it, you will probably have better luck in a HL1 engine forum. Even the HL:E forums would have more insight then we are going to have. Thats the one :) Contains many of the original textures that have been upgraded/replaced and then converted by the "Half Life Sourced: Texture Pack Team"... although this has been fairly quiet for the past few months now. The HLS-HD Team is working on these for HL Source... Like anything though it takes time and people dedicated to the work :) I'll let Frrak talk more about it though if he wants too. EDIT:- Have managed to move H4wks Houndeye into Source... This is not a official addition to the pack yet and still needs to be voted and approved by the team See below: H4wK's Houndeye Reskin Model: VALVe Skin: H4wK Source Conversion: Flynia (http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/364/h4wkhoundeyesource0ar.jpg) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Gurluas on December 09, 2005, 12:57:10 PM omfg looks sweeet

Thanks for the assistance Whuh. -- The Mapcore textures were part of a project active long ago. It still sees some activity, but not much. Many of the textures displayed in that thread made it into the texture pack collected and organized by Besli. After v.1 of HL:S:HD was released, Besli agreed to merge his project with ours. Though the texture pack only replaces about 10% of the total textures of HL:S, many are used in more then one area so the change is quite noticable ingame. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Tony_Freeman on December 09, 2005, 08:26:19 PM Actually, the HD Houndeye model was made by Gearbox, and not VALVe.

It does make a difference on certain areas. But is there any hi res texture pack available for hl1 right now? Because it looked like that texture project was originally for hl1 and I cant find a dl with all those new textures applied to the wad file. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 10, 2005, 02:47:07 AM The latest version of Besli's pack is still fairly old. You can download the zip file here (http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=54989&page=15&pp=15). There have only been maybe 5 or 6 textures added since then, and they will be included with HL:S:HD 2.0.
As far as the Mapcore thread is concerned, you would have to talk to some one there to see if there has been any downloadable updates. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on December 13, 2005, 09:20:13 PM The topic at http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?topic=3336.0 contains HD player models for HL Deathmatch. I'm not sure if this has been done before but I am going to have a look at the HEV Player Model and see if I can convert it over to Source as a fix for our current situation with the player model and sustaining damage listed at http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?topic=2434.msg38686#msg38686
Wish me luck :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 13, 2005, 11:15:52 PM Sounds like a good idea. This is the HEV model with the helmet correct?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on December 14, 2005, 12:04:27 AM Sounds like a good idea. This is the HEV model with the helmet correct? That im not sure of :( Even if it is though I don't think you get to see the model in game... so... hopefully in theory we should be able to use it anyway. I'll post my results either tonight or tomorrow depending on how it goes :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 14, 2005, 02:21:38 AM That im not sure of :( Even if it is though I don't think you get to see the model in game... so... hopefully in theory we should be able to use it anyway. That is not entierly true. If the player model is the one I am thinking of, it is the helmeted version of the HEV suit (I checked, it is), which is seen laying around Zen as the dead bodies of those who went before you. (http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/9363/playercomp0ti.jpg) (http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/1091/hev26iq.jpg) Though I would prefer to use Romka's, it would still be worth taking a look at the other one, . If we cannot get Romka's to work or do not have the time and/or resources to spend on it, then it would be good to have a backup. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on December 14, 2005, 02:26:59 AM That is not entierly true. Agreed... i would prefer to use "Romkas" as well as he truely is a "man amongst boys" as far as skinning models is concerned :)... as you can surely see mate I like to keep the options open and like having a few different backup options incase one fails. I'll also take a look at the "decompiled original" from HL Source tonight and try compiling Romkas with the hitbox code from it... im sure the bones and such will go crazy... but again its worth a shot while i have the free time as i can't remember where i was up too trying to troubleshoot it :(... *naughty headcrab* :P Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 14, 2005, 03:01:17 AM Actually, or should I say hopefully, if they were both compiled for Source they should already have the same skeleton with the same bones and names.

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: halflifedave on January 17, 2006, 10:32:10 PM I got a new question guys. Is Romka going to include his new Source grunts in v2.0, the one that he no longer updated and said that he would quit working on back when liquidator made those grunts that look high ???
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on January 19, 2006, 10:52:32 PM It has been brought up, but not confirmed.
If he chooses to continue work on his 2.0 grunts we will have to cross that bridge then. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: End Of Days on January 22, 2006, 07:20:36 PM I haven't been following this project until I got I played HL:S a few days ago and I must say, it look impressive. Default low poly models in HL:S looks out of place. What you guys are doing is a big step in enhanceing HL:S to what it should be.
Anyway. Just want to say hi. I'm not going to pester for update so don't worry. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on January 22, 2006, 07:37:44 PM Thanks for the support EoD, quite a compliment coming from you.
Some times it seems as though we are right around the corner from a release, at other times it seems as though it will never be finished. In our world updates have become an ellusive prey; regardless we press on. In fact, I really have to give this Team props because they just never give up and they do awesome work through it all. Of course if we had a modeller such as yourself on the Team as well.... ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Anakite on February 05, 2006, 09:14:23 PM Ahoy, maties! How is everything going?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on February 06, 2006, 03:34:35 AM On The Record - Low and Lazy ;) Plenty of trying to get those HEV/MED Chargers working. I've also all but given up on Ragdoll :( ... I'll leave that to our Resident Ragdoll Master SGT Wilko
Off The Record - Addicted to World Of Warcraft ;) and Need For Speed Most Wanted :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on February 06, 2006, 05:55:01 AM Off The Record - Addicted to... HL2DM for me, with the occasional return run through of Far Cry. Outside of that I'm taking up a petition in my neighborhood to bring DSL to our area. 9 years of (22k) dial-up is beyond long enough. (http://forums.caraudio.com/vb/images/smilies/scared.gif) As far as the project goes I've been tinkering with some movie making (teaser) and VTFTool (thanks Wilko). Most the Team is wrapped up with real world responsibilities or other projects, so I'm sorry to say not much is getting done around here at the moment. Time to bring up that nasty subject called "recruitment" again. I'm just not very capable as most of my experience boils down to hardware and configuring servers :( If only i had gotten into this sorta thing when i was younger and more receptive to knowledge :( Ahhh well... ill keep going and see what i can do... their has to be some reason the Med/Hev chargers wont swap. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: halflifedave on February 07, 2006, 08:58:44 PM Time to bring up that nasty subject called "recruitment" again. there are times when I wind up being bored as hell on weekends (only time I can ever do game related stuff) so maybe I can help with some stuff here and there (at the very least, porting over better reskins) plus it would always be good to be taught useful stuff by others :)Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: whuh? on February 11, 2006, 06:36:24 AM Id like to help out too. ;D Are you guys going through the big reskin thread and taking all the redone skins and adding them into the game?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on February 11, 2006, 03:30:03 PM Id like to help out too. ;D Are you guys going through the big reskin thread and taking all the redone skins and adding them into the game? Not exactly. We have used a few reskins, but they were applied to models that had already been updated. You can find more info on our work in the FAQ thread (http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?topic=2350.0). As far as what kind of help we would be looking for, we're looking for about everything but primarily an experienced modeler who is familiar with ragdoll and the Source engine. The remaining bugs to be fixed before 2.0 can be released will require at least that. Any experience other then that might be applied to any work we do after the 2.0 release. Our other concern is that we would like to get something out before Black Mesa Source makes everything we've done obsolete, lol! Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: halflifedave on February 11, 2006, 03:56:37 PM Our other concern is that we would like to get something out before Black Mesa Source makes everything we've done obsolete, lol! I imagine they still have a load of work to do, being the most anticipated HL2 mod and all ;D. I'm slowly getting better at refitting models to new bones and I've started doing a few animations. but if you do need some help I'll be available :-*Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on February 15, 2006, 03:23:04 PM Let's IM some night (if we can find a time that works with both our schedules). I'll try and snag you the next time I notice you're online. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 03, 2006, 10:39:18 PM Just a note from me...
The phone lines at my house have been screwed up for a little over two weeks now. I've had a variety of service people out to fix it and all they can seem to do is blame one another. I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to get back online regularly. The point being, if it takes me awhile to respond or take care of something, bear with me. I'll try and take care of things from work, but I can only do so much from there. Hopefully I can get this fixed soon. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 07, 2006, 05:21:03 PM Flynia, DUDE!!! I had no idea, sorry to hear that. Break ups suck, even under good terms.
I'm glad to hear you're moving on with life, but be careful of rebound relationships bro. It's easy to fall but in reality there is a lot of healing that hasn't had time to take place yet. Consequently we end up carrying all kinds of subtle (and not so subtle) baggage into the next relationship (can you tell I'm speaking from experience, lol). This usually creates problems that don't surface until later, most times leaving a person with TWO broken relationships to get over. I don't mean to come off like a kill joy, but your a friend and I don't want to see you get needlessly hurt. I know you can take care of yourself, just keep your head on your shoulders and remember your emotions cannot be trusted right now. Email me bro, it's been forever since we've yakked. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on March 14, 2006, 02:03:42 AM Ok back on topic folks now :P
How is work progressing people? I got the PC hooked up the other night and wanted to get back too the mod :) Are we going ahead or still on a bit of a break??? Any "new" news??? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 21, 2006, 02:54:44 PM I hate to say it but the closest thing I can see in the way of news is that every one has lost interest and moved on to other things.
I may be wrong, but it seems like the sad truth. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Anton on March 21, 2006, 04:03:10 PM Maybe you just need to organize some? Someone on the stupid ass-sucking forum of HL2WORLD Said that modders often get bored if they only work on one thing!
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on March 21, 2006, 09:45:57 PM I hate to say it but the closest thing I can see in the way of news is that every one has lost interest and moved on to other things. I may be wrong, but it seems like the sad truth. I got that feeling too :( I'm still determined to publish something as I'm not going to accept wasting the amount of time we have all put into this mod. We should really have a chat to all team members and see whats going down and who is still interested in the mod. If we all come back negative we should then think about what we have at the moment and making a working version that we could release as 1.5 or something along those lines. I could trial a few working versions over the next week or so if that is fine as i pretty much only use content that is 100% working anyway (working textures, working models, working items etc) Let me know your thoughts team please and sorry if I appear to be taking a "gung ho" approach as I can be quite assertive at times. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 22, 2006, 11:29:03 PM I would like to finish the project as well, but I don't have the time to devote to it I used to. I can't speak for the rest of the Team but my personal feelings are if everyone loses interest and it looks as if this project will die it would be my responsibility at that point to recruit some new help and organize whatever needs to be completed.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: gregs2k2 on March 23, 2006, 08:11:09 AM Damn shame, hope it doesn't die. So many hours spent on it, so much potential.
I'd glady help out, but I have absolutely no skills in this area. Hope all goes well. You still have loyal fans out there. Cheers Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 23, 2006, 02:35:03 PM Appreciate that. We'll do what we can.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: >origami< on March 23, 2006, 03:34:15 PM Hi everyone!
I've been stalking this forum for quite a while now, following the development of this much NEEDED mod and never posted here offering my encouragment or interest. Shame on me. I hope you guys can rally together and / or find some new blood to join the team so you can reach the finish line. I really want this mod finished so I can play Half-Life on Source the way it was meant to be played and also to have it there to play through as a true "legacy" version of Half-Life unlike the radically altered "Black Mesa Source". I encourage other stalkers to register and post their encouragment to the team and also for long-term contributors to this forum to give some vocal loving to this team that I'm sure has sweated blood and tears on this mod. Good Luck and Best Wishes to you all!! ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 23, 2006, 11:14:15 PM We appreciate the encouragement Origami. After long break, much distraction and waining interest it is good to hear there is still some interest in our work out there. Even more reason to finish what we have set out to accomplish.
Thanks for speaking up. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: grakk on March 23, 2006, 11:50:17 PM Hi, I would just like to say a couple things about hl:s:hd,
even though i just found hl:s:hd a few days ago, i have become more interested in it than BM:S in many ways, I love half-life and play it all the time, and your pack made me want to play even more than i allready do. Im loving every bit of work you guys have done and hope you finish the pack soon. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Jadolerr on March 24, 2006, 02:22:01 AM Keep up the good work, If you build it, they will come!
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on March 24, 2006, 04:36:59 AM I'm sure the team would gladly welcome anybody who can assist... i know i do :)
We are getting their... slowly and surely... the main issue is correctly working Ragdoll for the existing models at this point (Wilko mentioned working on it a few weeks back but i haven't seen him around of recent). If anybody out around these forums can assist please let us know... we also have a few minor issues to fix up... but nothing of this difficulty or severity. Lastly... Wilko... if you are around mate how are things going if you dont mind me asking :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: candle_86 on March 24, 2006, 04:51:07 PM I'd gladly help redo textures, but cant do bubmp mapping ect, only flat textures, but would gladly assist remaking textures. I also have been following this mod sense v1 was released.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 24, 2006, 11:03:45 PM I'd gladly help redo textures, but cant do bubmp mapping ect, only flat textures, but would gladly assist remaking textures. Then post them here (or PM me with them) next to the originals. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: candle_86 on March 25, 2006, 06:13:46 AM alright i have to work tomorrow so sunday ill post you some, i do all my work with fireworks as i also do website buidling and fireworks came with my dreamweaver.

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Aydin on March 26, 2006, 12:40:59 AM you talking, to me? ;D, I thought they said they had trouble with the project and frak said something
Quote I hate to say it but the closest thing I can see in the way of news is that every one has lost interest and moved on to other things. I may be wrong, but it seems like the sad truth. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: >origami< on March 26, 2006, 02:11:07 PM I'm sorry I have no expertise to contribute towards the HL:S:SD team. At the moment I'll I can offer is a cheerleader type, "YOU CAN DO IT!!".
C'mon all you lurkers and regulars.. Holler at the crew to show your support, anticipation and RESPECT.. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on March 27, 2006, 05:43:51 AM Hmmmm.
I do have a mate that is taking his first steps towards using Hammer and the Source SDK. Not sure if he has been in contact of recent here but I could have a chat to him and see if he is keen. Lastly... my brother in law is also working on a CS Source map... he would have to know something of textures and editing... ill try to flag him down as he lives in another part of the country to me. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: grakk on April 06, 2006, 11:30:11 PM any news on it flynia?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on April 07, 2006, 03:06:56 PM Meh,
I've been playing Heart OF Evil again. I prefer the HOE soldiers to the Hl2 guys. Good AI too. I don't actually know what needs doing to be honest. What models haven't we done? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: grakk on April 07, 2006, 03:13:18 PM did you guys finish the bonus pack? and the tentacle skinning? other than that i think you got every model.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on April 08, 2006, 01:03:50 PM Everything to my knowledge is done with the models... its just the improved ragdoll... or better ragdoll if u dont mind me saying that needs to be done.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: grakk on April 12, 2006, 01:09:13 AM Its not like its that much of a downgrade from the hl:source ragdoll effects,
infact the only ragdoll bug I find alot is the zombie\shotgun bug, and thats not even a very big deal. Plus even the version 1.0 ragdoll effects are better than having ld models. :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Blitz on April 12, 2006, 07:32:20 PM Can't quick hack jobs be done for ragdolls?
Like take the collision models for the ld models and copy them over to the new ones, then just tweak sizes and stuff? Plus, the ragdoll in general, even including the ld ones need to be affected by gunfire more. I dont like how they just flop to the ground with no momentum. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Ethyl on April 23, 2006, 12:56:45 AM Its been awhile since the last news update on the first page.
So.. whats the progress so far and what still needs to be completed? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on April 23, 2006, 06:39:02 PM Wheres Frraksurred gone to anyway?
The ragdolls that were released in the beta pack were the LD ones. We got attacked for poor ragdoll physics as we were rushed into an early release. If anyone can find Frrak, we might be able to get new life into this pack. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Ethyl on April 24, 2006, 05:47:18 AM Hm, yeah, I did have a few ecounters with bugs and I noticed the ragdolls too (beta :] )
I want to continue to assume that this pack is still going but if I don't see any updates from Frraksurred or Flynia then I would have to assume the worse =\ . . we might be able to get new life into this pack. "new life"? or is that just an expression? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on April 24, 2006, 11:42:28 AM Hey folks... im still around im just waiting on new life to come to this or someone willing to work on the Ragdoll or provide insight as to how i can accomplish this.
I'm throughly WOW addicted though... look for Rhonorence on the Khaz'Gorath server as thats me :) LVL 51 Human Paly.... Woo Hoo! Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on May 02, 2006, 01:30:07 AM I'm still around as well, though barely. Soon to change when my DSL gets up and running (FINALLY!!!)
Still addicted to HL2DM, eagerly awaiting Episode 1 and HLDM:S. ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Besli on May 05, 2006, 12:31:20 AM I'm still around as well, though barely. Soon to change when my DSL gets up and running (FINALLY!!!) Sorry, I'm around too! I haven't done much for this project, in the past. I downloaded "Cleaner's Adventure" and what i saw on the models there was just: :o (fucking great!) So I decided to spend some time again to help the HL:S HD community... Edit: Here is a little preview. (*.vtf=512x512) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Darkflame on May 05, 2006, 02:35:18 AM I cant believe you guys are just now expressing how great 512 maps are. I knew about that since last year with help from the TS boards. But remember this is the Source Engine so dont be afraid to pump it up some more.

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Liquidator on May 17, 2006, 08:34:59 PM What gman do you use in the project? From half-life 2 or sd one? If you prefer sd gman look at cleaner's adventures gman :)
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Darkflame on May 17, 2006, 11:32:40 PM I say use a Gman that can use the source engine to its advantage minus the HL2 one since were not allowed to do that.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on May 18, 2006, 04:38:06 AM I say use a Gman that can use the source engine to its advantage minus the HL2 one since were not allowed to do that. We aim to keep the look of the Gman of the original HD pack done by gearbox so we don't wanna advance the model too much. What are the teams thoughts on this? I have still to look over the code provided by SGT Wilko for Ragdoll as i am lazy. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on May 18, 2006, 09:24:06 PM The "Cleaner's Adventures" Gman is exceptional. However, I think the one we have slated for the 2.0 release (Marphy / Liquidator mix I believe) is equally as good and closer to the original "feel" of HL1. Still, I am but a single member of the team. All appropriate candidates are open for discussion.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Besli on May 18, 2006, 09:33:16 PM Hm, you did a very good work on the CAd GMan, Liquidator!!
But like I said: the head is a bit to small, and with the grey hair he looks older then the HL² GMan. We all know, I also want HL:S look as close as we can do on HL1, but hey it's the Source Engine, so we also have space for improvements!! What do you guys think about Water-Phoenix's light model? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on May 18, 2006, 09:43:08 PM We all know, I also want HL:S look as close as we can do on HL1, but hey it's the Source Engine, so we also have space for improvements!! True. Point to ponder... *strikes "The Thinking Man" pose* Quote What do you guys think about Water-Phoenix's light model? It's almost over polied, but I've never been one to complain about too much detail (as you can see I like to taylor my hardware to my software, not the other way arround). In general I like it. The primary reason we become such sticklers on not getting too far ahead of the HL1 "feel" is because if we put a high detail model in a mid to low detail world it sticks out like flaming popsickle on a Piccaso. Until we have the resources to redo the entire game (uh, Black Mesa Project?), then we have to be careful which world models we add to the game without them becoming a total distraction from the game itself. Otherwise I'd be happy to go giddy all over. ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on May 18, 2006, 11:41:03 PM Wasn't their a reported issue of the "Stalk" on the model sticking out the bottom or something?
Apart from that though im in favour if it works. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on May 29, 2006, 06:28:02 PM Just a bump to point out the first page (http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?topic=2162.msg34849) has been updated with some news.
Nothing too important, but news nontheless. Enjoy. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on May 30, 2006, 11:20:25 AM In other news, we are looking for help. Our crew has so many obligations outside of this project that it has become almost impossible to get much accomplished here. We wish we had more time, but reality bites. We are? Anyway, I'm sitting here doing nothing really - I sent you the model, you need to give me advice before I can go anywhere. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on May 30, 2006, 01:24:17 PM Sorry for the delay... stupid steam went and got itself corrupted and i had to download all content off the net again.
I've checked the ragdoll for the model and it seems fine to me. If we could adapt this ragdoll to suit the rest of the models (humanoid) we should be fine. It still seems to exhibit the "dissappearence effect" if you get to close to it but apart from that one side effect i emptied 200 bullets into it with a smile on the face :) Nice work Wilko and Well Done! Cheers! Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on May 30, 2006, 10:25:25 PM We are? Due to an issue with my new Gainward Golden Sample 7800GS AGP 512MB RAM my primary PC is down till probably the end of next week. At this point i am using my new laptop which dosen't have any Valve software installed on it :( I should be up and going by mid next week as I need to send the card via courier to Sydney from Canberra. Sorry! Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on July 31, 2006, 04:50:31 AM News has been updated. Page one, as usual.
-- Sorry to hear of your troubles Flynia, hope you get it working soon. You'll have to tell me how that GS works out for you. Similar to my set up except for GDDR (I have 512MB between both cards though). Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: flynia on August 01, 2006, 12:33:20 AM Cards up and working now...
During my efforts i did a full format to troubleshoot and need to download Steam and Source Gear again. Give me a few days... should have some positive news by Sunday. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Anakite on August 12, 2006, 11:48:33 PM Boy, I gotta visit this place more often...
This is looking great, guys. I can't believe the amount of effort put into this release. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on August 30, 2006, 04:40:36 AM More updates, check them (http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?topic=2162.0) out!
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on August 31, 2006, 02:08:42 AM That garg is made of plaster? Anyways I like the garg and all his robocop eye glory ;D.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on August 31, 2006, 03:45:28 AM That garg is made of plaster? LOL! I know, I put "$surfaceprop" "alienflesh" in the vmt, but it still shows up as the default decal. It is one of the things I still have left to tweak. Btw, there are a couple more updated shots of the Garg on the first page now. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on September 01, 2006, 04:39:48 AM Okay, I'll check them out, anyways, mabey part of the pack can be better decals for it, I always got pissed off when I shot a vent and it didn't make that deep sound like in half-life 2 and the decal was plastery, it is very annoying... Thought valve could put some effort into the conversion of HL...
Edit: Woah! Nice glowing eye on the garg! I also love the normals! Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Stalker on September 01, 2006, 01:29:52 PM Woah that garg looks good! Are the normals what makes the garg all wet looking? That really makes it look like good alien flesh. Nice one!
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Pumpkin_Masher on September 02, 2006, 12:37:32 AM We are experimenting with a way to remove the bunker from this shot. How's this Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 02, 2006, 01:43:43 AM That's beautiful. How did you do it and may we use it? ;D
If so could you PM me just the screen shot, no text? Thank you by the way. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on September 02, 2006, 01:56:45 AM Might want to lighten it up in the corner where the bunker was. Looks wierd with that random shadow. Looks nice. Hey what's added next?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 02, 2006, 02:07:42 AM Hey what's added next? Next?
That's all I can say for now. ;D -- EDIT: H4wk has agreed to do the Apache skin as well. This is looking to turn out to be a very nice model. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on September 02, 2006, 02:59:16 AM Damnit, at first I thought it was gonna have part of the controller skinned when I saw the picture loading. Well I love that appache chief, better get it skinned good(with normals and a 2048x2048 texture?)...
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 02, 2006, 09:20:20 AM
Quote from: sappy Now it kinda has a lot more "complete" kind of look, well kind of ::) I would like to point out that the apache is a WIP so yeah there are smoothing errors, misalligned stuff etc.(http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l114/sappy_nirv_bg/th_apch_ah-64a.png) (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l114/sappy_nirv_bg/apch_ah-64a.png) Also I would like to mention that eventhough I am making the apache almost from scrach, almost is the key word there. I am using as a base Romka's updated apache and I'll be keeping some of his parts since they are pretty good. From the ones that are present on the picture are the remodelled rockets(from Romka's), the uhm round trhing next to them(wtf is it ???, oh those two will swap places to look like the original has them). The ones not present are the wheels, and a bit modified SAW. And the stuff that is left from the original apache VALVe made are the cockpit but quite modified, the main and the back propeller wich will receive some detail added to them. Teh rest of it well ::).... Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Pumpkin_Masher on September 02, 2006, 10:54:51 AM I just saved the picture you posted and edited it out real quick in Photoshop.....
I know it's not perfect, but I didn't want to spend TO much time on it because in the game that picture is alot smaller.... Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 02, 2006, 02:09:29 PM Thanks for the update and details Sappy. Sorry about the pic, don't know what I was thinking. ::)
-- In addition, Sproily and H4wk have given their formal permission for us to use the Alien Controller model once they have completed it. To my knowledge this will be the first complete remodel of the controller ever publically released. Kudo's to these two for taking the project on! -- News on the front page has been updated to reflect these developements. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sylvine on September 02, 2006, 02:22:37 PM Are you going to make a HL1 version of this apache?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 02, 2006, 07:29:16 PM -- :whut: uhm Frakksurred I believe you will be kind enough to fix that ::)In other news, Sappy has been working on a new Apache model. Built from peices of Romka's updated Apache, the LD model and a lot of his own stuff, the model is coming along nicely. OH :canttake: evil I was on the edge of an histeria I thought Renard had made a new apache, for the greater part it looks like shit.Renders are good but the mdl.... ::) Teh only thing that I can say for shure is that a cockpit with pilots is a MUST since I see it looks rather nicely. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 07, 2006, 04:20:07 AM Nice, you made me sad with the word "gorgeous" because Steve Irwin said it. His death truly is sad. He contributed much and shall be missed. Now, just think if I'd of said: "Crikey! Just look at those raAAAaazer shaRP rotors!" That would have really been sad (no disrespect intended, just honoring an eccentirc man). Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on September 07, 2006, 04:31:31 AM Yeah *sniffle*, we can't make jokes anymore. I felt bad when I laughed at "The doctors say he will never crikey again". Well anyways, looks nice, do you have the skin to match the model?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 07, 2006, 08:26:13 AM ShieeeZ Frraksurred I I just tought You'd replace the old pic and post the new one :-[ I am quite thankful for that update in yer post :D more than sappy I am ;D
:o Yeah *sniffle*, we can't make jokes anymore. I felt bad when I laughed at "The doctors say he will never crikey again". Well anyways, looks nice, do you have the skin to match the model? That almost made me spill my coffe man. offtopic:Oh come on people yeah it is sad, but shiZ it aint the end of the world. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 07, 2006, 01:08:52 PM ...do you have the skin to match the model? No skin yet. H4wk has volunteered to do it once the model is completed. He is in the midst of skinning Sproily's Alien Controller right now and I'm not sure what else he has awaiting him in the wings, so he made need a bit of a break before starting the Apache. Regardless, I will keep everyone posted. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on September 07, 2006, 03:04:36 PM No skin yet. H4wk has volunteered to do it once the model is completed. Regardless, I will keep everyone posted. Yeah, H4wk skins everything, well the controller looks good, but it is a bit cartooony in the eyes. And I think the head needs more detail. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 07, 2006, 05:23:20 PM WHA? It looks done, unless there are some open faces in the back? ::) Well now "looks" is the key word here. Since you seem to be wery interested I will tell you what's left to be done as of from now. *(the front wings werent made when I made the percent statement) 1.What I just finished just a few hours ago were the shiZ that hold the rocket launcher and the missles wich although is not much took a while. 2. The back tail AND wings need to be remodelled, so when I finish them I can finish the back propeller's base. 3.The end of the tail needs to shaped since where it now end's is justa hole. 4.The minigun need to be complitely redone 5.+there are some minor tweaks and fixes that need to adressed 6.Smoothing groups need to be properly made since now it's a justa big mess 7.The sceleton needs to tweaked since the actual apache is longer than the original HL1 one 8.New animation needs to be made 9.Bounding boxes need to fixed 10.Assignemts need to fixed. And let's not forget that the skin needs to be made. So you get the picture :-\ Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: H4wK on September 07, 2006, 09:31:04 PM Yeah, H4wk skins everything, well the controller looks good, but it is a bit cartooony in the eyes. And I think the head needs more detail. ...I really wonder if people ever READ in the WIP threads, instead of just looking at the pictures. At this stage of the game, the controller is getting the lighting and major details done to it. Smaller more intricate details, such as details to make things look more realistic and less cartoony will be added last, once all of the lighting is completed. It's by no means near complete, and after I'm considering my part in it done, I'll be handing the .psd's to sproily and he'll be tweaking them. No skin yet. H4wk has volunteered to do it once the model is completed. He is in the midst of skinning Sproily's Alien Controller right now and I'm not sure what else he has awaiting him in the wings, so he made need a bit of a break before starting the Apache. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Besli on September 07, 2006, 09:39:02 PM I like it that it looks a bit cartoony, because it's a Game and i never saw a Controller in real life! ;)
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 08, 2006, 02:30:55 AM Yeah, H4wk skins everything, well the controller looks good, but it is a bit cartooony in the eyes. And I think the head needs more detail. I have been very happy with H4wk's skins in the past. The first WIP thread of his I saw gave me the same impression; cartoonish. However, that is only because I didn't understand how a skin was built at the time. The reason his skin looks plain and cartoony right now is because he is building a UV layer and generic details. A skin contains several layers. Take his Tentacle skin, the first time I saw it, it was a bland green with no detail. I thought I was in the wrong guys thread, lol. But look at it now, it looks stellar. It has an organic feel like few others. Just give the skin time, I imagine by the time he is finished you will barely recognize it. EDIT: D'oh! H4wk took the words right out of my... uh, keyboard. ;D I'll keep you posted H4wk, thank you. -- An updated shot from Sappy: (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l114/sappy_nirv_bg/th_ah-64a_wings-weaponry-holders.png) (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l114/sappy_nirv_bg/ah-64a_wings-weaponry-holders.png) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 08, 2006, 11:28:40 AM ...I really wonder if people ever READ in the WIP threads, instead of just looking at the pictures. I wouldn't say "screw 'em" (unless they're being blatant jerks) so quickly. Consider most of the time their comments are coming out of an ignorance of the process. They just don't understand how it's done. However, understanding their lack of familiarity can help us ignore their pessimism a lot easier. -- As far as the Apache is concerned, this is not a race. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 22, 2006, 09:22:15 PM There is new, newsly like news!
We have expanded our Team with a couple new members, if you want the details you'll just have to go check the first post. ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: End Of Days on September 22, 2006, 09:55:05 PM That apache puts mine to shame TBH. :D Get some smoothing groups on that chopper ASAP. Or after it's done getting mapped. The skin will look better with smoothing applied.
Anyway, keep it up guys. I might be forced to play HL:S. Only touched it once. PS: TBH, the VET tool isn't that great for rendering. A simple MS3D shot will do. Or give it to me and I'll render it up in 3ds max. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Nathster on September 22, 2006, 10:23:00 PM This project is the only reason I might buy HL:S :P
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 23, 2006, 10:44:54 AM End Of Days, like said smoothing groups are fucked since I was constantly working on something so I allways leave them for last. It's UV mapped and I have done the smoothing groups. Well the VET tool might not be the best for rendering but I decided I should fool around with it a bit.

Oh, just news from my side - I'm adding deathposes to the Human models. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frostbite on September 25, 2006, 11:27:59 PM cool just a question are you guys using the messy physic models (Blocky HL Source ones) or the "Proper" ones? (HL2, CSS, Dod Sauce, ect...)
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on September 26, 2006, 12:12:40 AM Well - I started off using the simple block method, but I'm now using the HL2 style phymodels.

My apologies, but it will be the weekend before I can get to it. -- You spelled chagrin wrong in the update on the twelfth of this month. Ah, thank you very much. Corrected now. Somebody understands how compulsive I am about my spelling. ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 27, 2006, 07:53:05 AM Oh, just news from my side - I'm adding deathposes to the Human models. Could you by any chance take the time and explain to the village ididot, what would that mean since I aint shure I understand.Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 27, 2006, 02:42:15 PM "Much to our chagrin" would be similar to saying "Much to our delight". Since I only speak a single language I think I over compensate with an enthusiastic vocabulary. ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on September 27, 2006, 04:35:56 PM I think he was asking me what deathposes are.
It basically means that the ragdoll with try to move into a postion, rather than just flop down on the floor. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on September 27, 2006, 10:43:11 PM I think he was asking me what deathposes are. Quite right I presume I could have asked "Sgt Wilko, could you by any chance take the time and explain to the village ididot, what would "adding death poses" mean since I aint shure I understand?"It basically means that the ragdoll with try to move into a postion, rather than just flop down on the floor. So are you using the ones from HL1 or making your own? And why just to the human models, or are you currently adding to the human and you are going to add to the other NPCs alter? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Sgt Wilko on September 27, 2006, 10:50:19 PM Well, right now - I'm just playing around with the whole idea of deathposes and am using the hl1 death animations to start off with. They dont look too bad expect the diebackward one. I'm working on the human models since I think they need it the most - I'll do the others when I get round to doing it.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 28, 2006, 06:12:11 AM I think he was asking me what deathposes are. October? ;D thx I would like to starting to play with HL:S with ver 2.0 pack :) that's why im waiting for it... reaaallly!!! ;) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on October 03, 2006, 10:43:21 PM That reminds me,Fraksurred, shouldn't that be added in the HL: S HD FAQ?
I mean either a release date or a When it's done, what ever, some kind of statement? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on October 04, 2006, 12:35:56 AM Yeah! Like some date like I dunno 10/11/06-12/17/06, something like that, the release date could be anywhere in between.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on October 04, 2006, 01:40:59 AM We've toyed with the idea of a release date, but historically it just never worked out. Not to mention our Team has gone through multiple changes, making things even more unsure.
You do have a point though, there should be a statement on that topic added to the FAQ's. I will take care of that immediately. As far as a date goes. We stand firmly on "when it's done". ;D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on November 23, 2006, 07:54:51 PM OKay an update of the leech look(for those who missed the News update, check the first pagefor a comparison shot between the HL1,mine and HL2 and a WIP shot) with teeth, a new ref pose(thanks to Tsunami).

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 24, 2006, 03:42:28 PM Like what? Phong? Specular? Normals? If any of the above...perhaps you'd like to join the Team and take a look at our other 20 to 30 some models? ;D
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: James on December 24, 2006, 03:48:18 PM Well, I was thinking animation-wise. The original ones I did were terrible. =P

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on December 30, 2006, 06:05:10 PM He doesn't know how to convert to Source just yet, so we'll have to take care of that. Damn where's the embarrassed smiley when ya need it. Yeah that's right, I believe Barnz has some know-how in that direction or for that matter all of the HL: S HD team so ......gu-gu ga-ga baby wannah does Sauce :D anyone care to help out the noob ???So hopefuly that will change. I am sorry I tought every one knew of that. That's why I upload decompiled source(not Source) files. However I DO hope that for what I lack in Source model conversions I can compensate in quantity and quality of improved models. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Barnz on December 30, 2006, 08:10:21 PM It's not that hard. I can help you later via MSN.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on December 30, 2006, 10:59:05 PM I can't wait to see the roach in game, also, are you guys doing like map textures or just prop/model textures and better models?

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on December 31, 2006, 05:53:35 AM Well, you guys can now ask R0mka if you can use his hgrunts, they are in the new obsidian conflict patch...
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 31, 2006, 08:17:22 PM Last I knew Romka was avidly against any conversion of his hgrunts...particularly by anyone from HIT. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
-- Was not trying to embarress you at all Sappy! :o You applied to our team as a modeler and as such you have done awesome work!! No one expected you to do conversion as well, though as mentioned, it is fairly easy to learn (I mean if I can do it....). Well, they are in source format, but he encoded them, I opened it up, because it wasn't working in Gmod (came up as errors) and there are not even directories, it's like all code... Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Besli on December 31, 2006, 10:45:41 PM Well, you guys can now ask R0mka if you can use his hgrunts, they are in the new obsidian conflict patch... I don't like the idea to use Romka's last Grunts for HL:S:HD. The Grunts are really nice, yes. But I think that they don't fit the (good old) HL style! I most like his Version 5 Grunts! But for the Bonus Pack okay. (If someone is willing to convert it...) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frostbite on December 31, 2006, 10:50:36 PM Well you have about 24 hours to ask romka (Like that's ever gonna happen...) before he goes off for like 9 months in the army...or something..

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: James on January 01, 2007, 12:45:47 AM Perhaps you would like a ban too? I'd very gladly oblige.
(That is if your comment was meant to be a sarcastic jibe at the persons responsible for his ban) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on January 01, 2007, 12:50:19 AM No it wasn't a jab at the mods, it was a jab at him because he doesn't seem to listen very well, hopefully he will listen after he goes to the army, or where ever he is going for 9 months (same amount of time a baby is ready to leave the womb, mabey he is waiting for a baby?)
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: James on January 01, 2007, 12:56:19 AM Ah right ok, my apologies, I must've read too far into it.

:D Not that I don't have a more important model to finish but since we did one turret would be dumb not to do the other, right? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on January 04, 2007, 02:13:06 AM Well that's done, I can't see anything else that I can do on that one. I'll just UV map it and send it wonrz later today.

And I'm off to finaly finishing the apache and sending it to H4wk, hopefully before the end of the weak. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on January 15, 2007, 11:06:17 AM Yep I think so too I redid a lot of stuff on it and I reworked a lot of the UV maps, just finishing up some smoothing tweaks and I should be sending it to H4wk today
I love the leech, just that the eyes kinda bug me, but I don't think I would see it that upclose. What's wrong with them ??? To low polly? Pff that's the easies fix since they're chrome I could just replace them with a 8 slice cylinder and it's fixed, won't add too much polly so it's most likely to happen. Then a lil well deserved, I believe rest, and I am going to finish the xen ligh(mostly UV mapping 'tuff), after that the skeleton is up for a lot of work and then we'll see I have some ace's up my sleeve ;D that no one knows of. I also hope wonrz will surpriZe me with some updates on the mini_turret. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: jack-wonrz on January 15, 2007, 04:17:53 PM Terribly sorry, but I haven't done pretty much anything about this turret yet :-[. I've got an exam session at my collage right now, and studying leaves me with practically no time for doing anything sensible :( . I'll try my best to get some work done on it during next two weeks or so, that's when exams end anyway, so hopefully it'll be done by early february.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on January 16, 2007, 04:11:54 AM Sappy, you've more then earned some rest! Take what you need, I know you'll be back at it when you are ready.
-- Wonrz, I can't speak for Sappy but you take care of that Education before you worry about any of this! ;D There is always time for this, but paving the way for your future has to happen when it has to happen. Thanks for helping out regardless! Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on January 16, 2007, 06:13:41 AM Do you guys have a new xen tree model?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on January 16, 2007, 08:44:57 AM We will, don't worry ;)
edit: ::) keke correction, now we have Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: >origami< on January 16, 2007, 01:18:58 PM A new Xen tree?
Very intriguing.. ;D Can't wait too see it.It's also good to see that you guys aren't setting aside the important things in the real world to knock this baby out quicker. The wait for the quality will be worth it.. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on January 16, 2007, 01:41:16 PM This is the current Zen tree model...
(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/3264/treecomp0os.th.jpg) (http://img88.imageshack.us/my.php?image=treecomp0os.jpg) Sappy is working on an all new one. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on January 16, 2007, 02:29:27 PM Where is that HD tree anyway? I cant seem to pin point it's location it looks like an edited Dreamcast tree,or is it the PS2 tree???
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frostbite on January 16, 2007, 09:28:37 PM PS2 tree unless the bump maps are disguising the low polyness.
Oh wait it's the PS2 one, dreamcast has a single brush near the top of the tip down to the bottom of it. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on January 17, 2007, 03:27:07 AM We will, don't worry ;) edit: ::) keke correction, now we have Yay! For some odd reason, certains times little things fixed make me happy. Edit: You should make a base for the tree the fans out with an alpha texture so the parts near the edge of it are transparent and blend with the area correctly. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: gtaiiilc on January 18, 2007, 09:02:12 AM I think I want the xen light most and for a bounus pack you could use the heli from the dead 7th hour mod it was real nice and BM:S-ish and will there be the hl def hidef reskin of the Agrunts I HATE the yellow hive hand.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Besli on January 18, 2007, 09:37:56 AM I think I want the xen light most and for a bounus pack you could use the heli from the dead 7th hour mod it was real nice and BM:S-ish Do you have a pic of it? I reaally would like to play HL Source with this awesome pack! :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on January 23, 2007, 05:49:17 PM We'd love to let you play HL:S with our pack, that was the whole idea when creating it. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. I'd like to see the pack out this summer, but there is no way I can promise that.

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Besli on January 27, 2007, 06:46:00 PM WOW!! :o
HL:S:HD slowly turns into a H.I.T for HL:S! :D (If we start to edit the maps.) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frostbite on January 27, 2007, 06:58:36 PM Decompile the maps since I don't think Half-Life: Source uses displacements you would like get 1-2 errors.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: DKR1138 on January 28, 2007, 12:19:37 AM Are you guys going to put source glass on the tram as well? the originals were just open, so it'd be nice to see reflections (even if its just blury) coming off the other trams windows.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Heckler Stev on January 28, 2007, 06:06:13 AM Are you guys going to put source glass on the tram as well? the originals were just open, so it'd be nice to see reflections (even if its just blury) coming off the other trams windows. Might be even better with the refraction shader beta. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on January 28, 2007, 07:27:56 AM I have no idea how we're going to get it ingame yet, lol. We will have it for when we figure that out. ;D
Seems to me Barnz had a program that helped with this, but I have my doubts it will work. If we go so far as to decompile the maps, that would be for a much later (3.0) release. Still, while we finish 2.0, Sappy can be creating all the future material he wants to. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Billmaster on January 28, 2007, 10:39:43 PM Yea finish 2.0 first!!
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on January 29, 2007, 08:34:18 AM Taken from the HL:S Flipsigns >>>UPDATED<<< (http://www.hl-improvement.com/forums/index.php?topic=5888.msg97352#msg97352)
Ah okay. I agree, that's a little problem, because it's readable now! ;) Hm, so we need a decent TRAM model? I shouldn't be that hard to make a model. (It doesn't have to be that detailed like the rendered model on that old pic.) I will send you all my rock textures. The tram isn't a model, it's a func_train/func_tracktrain brush. In other words, it's part of the map. =( *grumbles incoherently* I know. :-\ But someone (long time ago) modelled the tram: Edit: It shouldn't be that hard to make a lowpoly model. I can do it, only problem is I am not shure how big that thing is, other than that PM to talk it over Errm Edit: 1.Bout the Dam is that the background map?It prolly is but if it aint prehaps the background doesn't have the bunker, if not I think it could be removed from the pic :-\ right? 2.The loader is really cool :D 3.Apache.... :o why the heck ya used the original model ??? 4.Train not bad but yeah :-\ send me the textures yer using and I'll make a nice model SO the initial idea for that tram was to be used in the flips signs, to replace the original map one, just in that texture. But if they could get it ingame as a model replasment, some how it's cool, I got a modelled tram for the "On a rail" chapter wich could also be used if they can do that. I am still waiting on some helping hand for the rail conection mechanism :) Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: James on January 29, 2007, 02:33:05 PM Ah, nice thinking there, Batman.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on January 29, 2007, 07:09:33 PM :( What is that supposed to mean Minuit ???
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: James on January 29, 2007, 08:14:49 PM Your thinking was nice. D=?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Morpheus on February 03, 2007, 09:18:27 PM Tram= ownage
Maybe put a news ticker in the front? some ads? The temprature and weather? It'd be kind of funny if you put someone's ID card in the tram underneath a seat. A bit of irony for when the announcer says "pplease check the tram for all personal items and belongings." Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: braeden246 on February 04, 2007, 08:31:25 PM They should make a trailer like black mesa source did ,that would be awsome.
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 04, 2007, 05:01:20 PM Updates yo.
Page one. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on March 04, 2007, 06:25:51 PM News as of 3-4-07 Just a minor clarification on the controller:I have not used Spoilry's models as starting base, I only used some minor patrs from it/some for the back of the hoofs, and the "eyebrow" from his model's head, wich was then modified a bit to fit in seamlesly in my model & give out the more angry impression, plus the eyes wich most likely will be replased/ So that line there should be :Not the least of which is a completely revamped Alien Controller built from the original VALVe one, using some minor parts from Sproily's earlier modelSorry for the lack of updates as of late; busy , busy , busy. So, what do we have for you today? Well, I'm glad you asked. As usual, Sappy has been hard at work pumping out new models for us. Not the least of which is a completely revamped Alien Controller built from Sproily's earlier model. For your enjoyment we also have a Houndeye, Skeleton and Rocket Engine for tentacle frying in style (who knows... maybe we'll see a new Tentacle to go with it ;) ).

For your enjoyment we also have a Houndeye, Skeleton and Rocket Engine for tentacle frying in style (who knows... maybe we'll see a new Tentacle to go with it ). :o Shhhhshshshhhhh keep it down ;)I have plans for that as well, I already have done some work in that direction, mostly some test for a few ideas I have, on how I could improve the model's look.[/list] Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on March 04, 2007, 07:49:30 PM I have updated my update with the updates from your update. I also have been absent kind of, lately but I am working and I have basically two days max time off work, since I am like a zombie when I get back from work. Though I have managed to do some nice work on the new crates, based on Flowers Of Naivety's new textures, which once finished would most likely get shown to ya all. It's only because of that screen of the new crates that I've realised there's supposed to be a skid! :oTitle: Re: News & Updates Post by: Morpheus on September 16, 2007, 04:29:22 AM Not sure if anyone has asked, but what's the verdict on physics? Will it be reworked to allow Gordon to pick up small and medium items, tip over crates, knock things over with explosions? Just a thought before I pass out for some energy regeneration.

Nice work. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Besli on January 27, 2008, 11:21:41 PM News Update:
Hey we're not dead! :P I'm glad to tell you that the SDK has been updated now and we can continue the work on our project! We will disclose some media to the public as soon as we can! We still need some good texture artists! Because we was waiting so long for the SDK update I joined the HoE:EP-Team, but the work there is going on very well! And I'll offer services for spriting IF you need it. I'll be happy to make some weapon sprites and shit. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: sappy on January 30, 2008, 09:26:34 AM No need for weapon sprites ..yet. We are, still short of textures for models and brushwork. People have lives outside of HL + modding. Some of them even have jobs, and.... (ghasp!) families to support. They may have to go days or, possibly (super ghasp!) months without logging onto forums, for a multitude of reasons - too little free time, and too tired to be assed to log onto a forum to see a dozen one-hit-wonders insulting them with "omg wuts taking so long fags!?!". Kindly shut the fuck up before you get banned, and Daza/somebody seems to find that to be an excellent idea, considering you've been warned in less than 5 posts... that's by no means a record, but... still. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Kerc on December 04, 2008, 05:13:30 AM Well you're acting like I don't know how to skin. I understand, it's not a ten minute job, but gathering and converting some sd models, adding some death scenes, and what not really doesn't take 4 years. It is a little more than just that. I dont really know about the HL: S pack because i am not involved with it. However you mentioned HL:e too. There is far more work than gathering a few models and adding some death scenes. But since it is such a small task, how about you do your own version?People are doing this work in their free time, they have other priorities. Its not like we get paid for the work we do for the Half-Life community. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on December 08, 2008, 12:37:03 AM Large projects do take time, especially to do them right. I am as excited about Black Mesa Source as anybody, but I don't want it a single day before it's ready. They've taken the very daunting task of recreating the best selling game of all time; people's expectations are high... very high. I would not want to be in their shoes, and if I were I'd be dang picky about what I was releasing.
Our project on the other hand is a different story. It was a great idea started with a lot of enthusiasm that eventually suffered from disagreements within the Team and lives moving on into other areas of life. I can understand how people could be frustrated... not behaving like an @$$, but frustrated. Some great work has been done on this project, unfortunately a lot of it is in unfinished state. I stepped down as Team Manager some time back, but I still stop in on occasion. My role was more administrative then anything. I did not have the skills to contribute like Wilko, Barney, Romka and Sappy have. Our Team still exists, but I haven't seen much attention on this project in a long time. It is tragic, but I can't say it is anyone's fault. Real life has a way of making changes to your schedule. I'm not going to be the one to say the project is dead, but I've given up on ever seeing 2.0. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: HLDMS_MAPPER_REHAN on December 08, 2008, 09:13:31 AM Hi guys'

It is a Romka revised version of A.I.'s original revision. The Gold Source files and Milkshape files can be found here (http://ambientimpact.hl-improvement.com/downloads_Romka.htm). If you PM me I can probably dig up the Source conversion some where. You can also get Romka's HL2 HEV suit out of the Synergy Mod's files (http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_2_Synergy_Mod_Server_Files;47999) if you're interested.
We had problems with this player model in the single player game; for some reason it was invincilble to damage from the other human a.i.'s. We worked on it for some and could not figure out the cause. Perhaps you will have more luck with it. Thanks for intresting :) the problem is very simple. after decompile old hd model to source and put bones on correct place. The point is when i compile the model and paste mdl files on correct place and i see player model legs, pelvis bones not using animation they freez on there place but all upper body and bones work fine. i have only one problem that is player model not using his leg animation and its freeze, not using walk, run, idle, crawl, treadwater, swim animation, because legs freez on there place. i get too much help from stone33 who convert hl1 npc models to source but he still dont figure it out why the legs not using animation. Barnz : do you know why the legs not working i can also take pics or make simple video with dvix codec if you or any one intrested and help me ? Hopefully you will be the one to save the day. ;) :D ok Frraksurred can one of your team member try this thing just for testing it. my point is take one HLDMS player model. like i get gina model from HLDMS and decompile it after that i compile it again the animation messed up and model cant crouch, walk, etc. so i think there is a code that can fix this or have to do something in 3ds max or 3d milkshape to make them work. on Aug 2006 http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=475006&highlight=dm_prison some one creat new player model called zombi2.mdl and using same bones from hldms zombie.mdl but the model have different phymodel..smd and model works fine. but if i took any model decompile it and used different phymodel or used the default one then in game, model not using any animation. i can also creat one more video for that or even show the model. i am looking for a code wich make them work. maybe one of your team member can do this. because i know basic things about the models. oh one more thing, when you guys released ur new models pack ? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: HLDMS_MAPPER_REHAN on February 01, 2009, 07:04:21 PM i just want to know what u guys did after decompile hl1 hd npc models.
like you guys took HL1 NPC barney HD and decompile it after that what u guys did with barney. i dont want to know about textures i just want to know about model, bones,qc file. can any one explain me ? I haven't been involved with the project for about a year. I was just trying to be helpful where I could.

I haven't been involved with the project for about a year. I was just trying to be helpful where I could. sure i can wait and see if any of your team can help me. more good if you or ur team member show me mdldecompile.qc for zombie.mdl from hd pack. or give me any hl1 player smd,qc before compile model. i need orignal files for your work and make sure your model work fine in hl1. Thanks again :D Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: michaliskebab on February 08, 2009, 10:54:58 PM I can't wait for this much longer. What prevents you from releasing an unfinished pack?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: HLDMS_MAPPER_REHAN on February 09, 2009, 07:33:02 AM I can't wait for this much longer. What prevents you from releasing an unfinished pack? are you saying to Frraksurred ? Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on February 14, 2009, 07:18:54 AM I can't wait for this much longer. What prevents you from releasing an unfinished pack? I've presented the idea to the rest of the Team but no decision has ever been made. I don't want to offend anyone or I'd just post the files myself. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: HLDMS_MAPPER_REHAN on February 22, 2009, 11:00:46 AM i find a way to fix HLDMS player model but i need code for this.
and i know HLMDS player model also using it. if any of you guys know the code to make them work please reply. all blend animation used code and that code attach to look_idle sequence so if any of you know how i can attach the look_idle sequence to blend animation please let me know. example: "ref_aim and ref_shoot attach to look_idle" || "crouch_aim and crouch_shoot attach to crouch_idle" $sequence ref_aim_crowbar "ref_aim_crowbar_blend1" "ref_aim_crowbar_blend2" loop fps 12 blend XR -50.00 45.00 $sequence ref_shoot_crowbar "ref_shoot_crowbar_blend1" "ref_shoot_crowbar_blend2" fps 24 blend XR -50.00 45.00 $sequence crouch_aim_crowbar "crouch_aim_crowbar_blend1" "crouch_aim_crowbar_blend2" loop fps 12 blend XR -50.00 45.00 $sequence crouch_shoot_crowbar "crouch_shoot_crowbar_blend1" "crouch_shoot_crowbar_blend2" fps 24 blend XR -50.00 45.00 or 2nd way is bones. blend animation not using other bones down bip01 spine1 so thats mean there is something to do with bip01 spine with attaching look_idle and crouch_idle sequnce. if i know the code then model work. Thats why no one made any PLAYER models for HLDMS because they don't know how to fix it. SO please guy's help me with it so i can make HIGH DEFINATION PLAYER PACK. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: deathray2635 on July 24, 2009, 10:54:03 PM I know you've had trouble finding the trouble to do this or something, but if you have a "team" this should of been done like four years ago. It's been a really long time since this was announced, and all we have to go on is that little shitty non-functional model pack you released. Does it REALLY take that long to throw some sounds together, and convert some old models?
Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: KylerAdams on July 25, 2009, 07:11:11 AM Alright, then, tough guy.
If it's so easy, why don't you fucking do it instead of whining about how the team is a bunch of lazy fucks? Go ahead, prove it's so easy. Til you prove it's easy, stfu. Seriously. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: HLDMS_MAPPER_REHAN on July 25, 2009, 09:34:00 AM i am looking for good hgrunt, gman model hidef models and can't find yut but others are done already.

Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: snkneel on September 01, 2009, 02:14:09 AM Hey, is there any news on the release for v.2.0 for the half life source hd pack, ive been waiting ever since i downloaded the first one and ive been looking forward to the v2.0 but i cant seem to hear anything from it.
Thanks. Title: Re: News & Updates Post by: Frraksurred on September 10, 2009, 08:28:04 PM Well, I've not been involved in the process for some time now, but I have been keeping tabs.
I'll be honest, because I think you deserve that, I don't think this pack is ever going to be released. Nobody seems to be working on it anymore. I've talked with one or two of the guys about releasing what we have already and we agree to discuss it, but then it never actually happens. It pains me, because I was a part of this project for a couple of years, but I'd have to say it's dead. I welcome correction if I'm wrong, but I've seen no evidence that I am. -- I know this will probably tick some people off, but those people can prove to me they're actually going to release something before they get too upset... if I can find the files on one of my hard drives I will upload them some where and post a link. They will be as is, but it's better then nothing. Check back.
