this is the begining of my map Lv_1201 Im a beginner mapper so its isn't the greatest, i just thought you guys would to see it so far.
oh in the pics its say 18 to 17 fps thats just my shitty video card, its running on high that why the fps is low

Ouch 17fps?  Yikes.

I can say that your geometry looks nice, but a bit repetetive (add some locked doors that follow the same geometric patterns or something on the side), and your textures are quite meh, it's probably just the lighting though.  Add some atmosphere with the lighting a bit more, add dark/flickering broken lights down the path in some areas.  Makes it seem less perfect.

17 fps is bad? Usually thats a high number on my computer. Though I play with everything on very high.

Well, my old Geforce MX440 got at least 30 with everything on High.. and it looked bland.

yeah i got a 9600 SE but i don't know whats wrong with it, but any ways i did what you said i made it alot darker and added a flickering light adds to the touch. but yeah im just a beginner mapper remeber that. Here is some more pics

Ooh.. spooky.  I like the wires you placed.  But it does seem a little too dark in the first picture.

So, what's the background story on this map?  That might help in what you want to focus on.

Looks pretty good, but you should add a line of lights running on the ceiling, but dim ones.

the map i'm making is from aliens the compound there in is dark, wet and very creepy thats what im trying to aim for thx for the comments and the ideas.

You know, for a first map, this looks pretty awesome.  I don't know much about mapping really, and it looks far from playable, but I get the impression that this is more of a showcase of your abilities so far.  With that in mind this looks highly encouraging, keep going  :).

YES! Somebody give this chap a hand... Get that holding tube converted and lets get some more custom models... DUDE! If you are thinking about a mod I am in all the way!

And it would work.... Just don't use the Alien name...I would say call it The 8th Passenger but it lookes to be Aliens based and not Alien based...

But I digress. If you need a texturer I am your man.

i wish i could make a mod but if FOX found out they would come down with an iron fist.. but if i did i would maybe call it bug hunt.

As long as its not a direct mod of the movies, games or comics, it is fine. If it is based on the Alien universe it's ok. Just don't use the Alien name.

yeah i know there has a lot been of mods based of aliens that have been shut down becuz of fox, and i have seen a few mods that used some vechiles from aliens and they were told to not use them or they would get sued. just thinking about it could probably get sued for those pictures hmm...

Well fox doesnt own the art doen by Giger, base the alien of Giger's art work, make the levels Sci-fi based, come up with original vehicls, textures etc... But heh I doubt this will become a mod... Pity.... AvP2 was such a dissappointment...

in this picture is the M14A pusle rifle before it came to be, this is just my concept of how it looked here is some pics, its supposed to be the M8 evovled into the pulse rifle without its grenade launcher..It's called the Xm14a

wow are u like a like...wats it called...like som1 who never knew but they just have a talent for something...i dunno but u can model good, map great, do all that stuff wow...keep it up, but i dont think u should make a mod, cause i want it now and i want it !!! EHHHH....i think u should use the hl2 universe, like or maybe the doom 3, thats  like alien, and like lemme think, u can put head crabs in the ceiling and stuff, like they jump out, and put zombies and headcrabs in the corners ( like in that test room put a zombie....or no....if you like modeled a new gonome and that stuff !!!) u could use them in the map it would be awesome. and if u dont like these ideas its cool but keep it up it rocks...like on par with regular mappers, and this is ur first!! lol ncie..

Models a good start, but you need to make it rounder :P ATM it looks like it's just a 2D picture strectched out into 3d on some parts (like the grip and handle)

All of Romka's models are made in Milkshape ;D unless he's got a secret 3DS habit we don't know about
