We will release v2 as soon as possible!

But v2 will only contain what we have converted at the moment.
The Team (mostly sappy and h4wk) are also working on some brand new models.
But they wouldn't be released in v2, because they arn't finished.

Yes, I think a animator would be great too!

Sappy has modelled a new turret, and we still have problems with the animations of it.

We are using enhanced HD weapons, and its animations.
That's why we don't need a weapon animator at the moment.

Oh, and please understand:
Before someone can get a part of HL:S:HD I have to ask the other Team Memebers if it will be okay.

Well that might be usefull for  some of the HD models I have done, like the controller and yeah turrets could also use some updated anims. Although, Besli if you look at the original HL:S turrets they do the same problem as mine, so I think that's another problem.

let me know where to get the old textures from, what size we can go up to here, you are doing HD, so i can build them as big as you want, let me know, ill extract a few of the old ones once i know how and enlarge them to target size and then pretty much enhance them for yall, this teams go over it make it sharper, bring out the color or the grime and make it look more presentable if that sounds good

Ah, okay.
And I thought it could be the fact that the new turret has 4 barrels, and the original only 3.
That could be a reason why the animation doesn't look right, but not why it doesn't work right! :P

About the controller:
So we could need a UV mapper too, right?
Send me the model (source) files. Like I said before, I can start a topic on the CDG-Forum, there are many and good UV-Mappers.

About the turret:
I will send Coozins/Minuit the source files, so they can make a new animation for the turret.
So they can use the skeleton from the ms3d file! ;)

Yes, sounds good!
If you have HL:S you can extract the textures from the half-life source.gcf, that could be found in:
.../Valve/Steam/SteamApps/ (Where all the *.gfd files are.)
you will find the textures in: root/hl1/materials/halflife

To extract them from the *.gcf use GCFScape (http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=76#p76).

About the texture size, I personnally think it would be the best to make the texture 4 times bigger than the original.
That means that the textures mostly have a size of 512x512 (because they are original 128x128 like in original HL).
But it's source so the engine also can handle 1024x1024 if we really should need that.

But I don't know if we could use the original textures (Valve made) and just enhance them.
Textures should be made from scratch I think, so we wouldn't get any problems!

Ok, I don't release much stuff, and I don't want to upload anything right now, so here is a zombie skin I did for Snood_1990's zombie: http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=336278 (there are more skins in the download, and some things could be better, also the eye problem has been fixed).

PS: I have barely tried editing weapon textures.

I believe the original ones are good, although they could use some editing. And the death animation is utter crap/especially for the head/, and since  Sgt Wilko is adding death poses it might need redoing, I am not shure really what to say :-\.

Will they not have ragdolls? I'm not being pushy and demanding, it's just that I'm sure I read somewhere that the second release would have ragdolls.

The default models have ragdolls, but the HL:S:HD first release didn't. The Source engine is capable of using animations, in fact, the NPCs in Half-Life 2 play a small death animation before they go into their ragdoll animation.

Looks like cloth to me. Needs some geometric spots of black gray and brown.

Not exactly, what Coozins wrote is a good explanation:
The default models have ragdolls, but the HL:S:HD first release didn't. The Source engine is capable of using animations, in fact, the NPCs in Half-Life 2 play a small death animation before they go into their ragdoll animation.
Simply put it combines death animation plus ragdoll, and it looks better than just ragdoll.

Oh, like the shot_left animations, so when they get shot on the left side, they play the flinch animation, then turn ragdoll! Got it!

Yes, Stone's pack are mostly fixes of the Sourced textures.
He only added a few new textures.

About the turret animations: does anyone know if there's a way to move bones in 3DS Max? Normally, when you use the move option, it just rotates bones.

Edit: The turret doesn't seem to have been assigned to the skeleton properly. There are a lot of problems.

What did you import in 3D's Max? A 3ds file, exported via ms3d, or a smd?
And I can't see the bones I select(they don't get highlighted when selected from the menu), in the new v1.8.1 version ms3d/which is weird???/ so I can't be in much of assistance, at the moment.
Try to explain what's wrong or give some pics.

I imported it is an SMD. The problem is, it just simply gets all warped. This is what happens when I try to rotate the barrel:

I have absolutely never seen anything so ...hum curly :D. Being serious though, have you tried playing trough the animation in 3ds Max? See if you still get those problems, I have never had any problem looking like that. And the  Goldsource & Source versions of the turret never showed such errors, nor did it show in ms3d or smd files in MilkShape 3d.

Well wouldn't robotic look good for a robot, or is robotic in the fact it doesn't change animations quickly or the movements are stiff?

Yep we need good ones, like yourself. For both model and world textures. For the model ones, atleast for mine, ya don't need to have the HL:S. Talk to Besli to sort out what needs be done.

Yes, we can need both world and model textures, world textures are mostly the same as in original HL,
but some of them are resized/scaled! We allready have some hires textures, but I think some of them should be remade.
If you want I can post a pic an show you why I think they should be redone.
I still have to make texture sets, so if someone is willing to remake a texture he can make the whole set, so the textures will look the same.

Yeah heh, I finally have an excuse to buy it. ;)

Hmm. Source looks a lot better then regular HL. The colors are darker and more defined.

And I don't think the textures need to actually be THIS big, but I made a crate side just to see if this is the look you are kinda goin for. I can correct the color to be more like the ingame texture (shown)

DAMN that's BIG o0 512 is fine I think, 1024 seem a bit pushing it.
It's really pretty  Flowers Of Naivety. I can't stop staring  ;)
I like it even like that but , yeah a tad darker orange would look better, I suppose.
If we could just get someone to skin some more models  ::)

You can't change textures like you change models, can you? Like make the folder for it C:\programfiles\steam\steamapps\buttseks\Halflife source\materials\halflife\ just like with model replacements or textures in HL2...

Interesting, you can do it... But my 1024x1024 texture won't fit...

Damn, that looks good!

It has to be the same size as the original texture. If it's simply going to replace it. It's a real shame because that would really reduce the detail. However, there is a way that the detail could still be there on a 64x64 texture. If the HL:S:HD team were to Ripent the Half-Life: Source maps, I think they could halve or quarter the texture size, so the texture would fit.

Solution, Low res of the actual image, then take the 1024 version grey scale it and use the $detailtexture vmt command.

Actually we do not need the source of maps. Crates were made of special brushes like func_wall, so you can remove them with NotePad.

the wood looks over saturated and the grain is very... unrealistic, it also needs some grain to make it look like planks of wood. otherwise it's a decent texture.

Sorry, it just struck me as a bit funny at first.

One thing I hate about the military crate model is that the skid its on ruins the model. Someone should remodel the bottom to at least look like a skid.

Crates are typically made of scrap wood, such as Douglas Fir, a construction lumber. it can be darkened for age.

I tried it ingame and it's really nice. Actually we have some hires textures from the good old Sourced project.
But Flowers Of Naivety has decided to remake some of the existing textures.
That's really good, because so all textures will have the same style! (Look on the old "flamable" logo on the barrel,
and at the new one on the crates. FON's new barrel fits with the crates!)
So I was thinking about to replace the old sand texture with this new one.
But I first will contact the maker of the sand texture and ask for his "okay".

The textures from Sourced were closer to the original textures, but I really like Flowers Of Naivety's style! 8)

I think the barrels are in more serious need of a model make over Sappy.

Just one thing make those things in the red slimmer, like half the size they are.

Like I said, I didn't feel too good about those crates. And I still don't. I think I will get rid of most of the waviness because its suppossed to be one sheet of ply wood. Then it should look ok. Thanks for pointing it out or I would have just left it alone :P

And yeah, the barrel was a quick retexture. I will deffinitely fix it up.
