I used the theme for DOD and it used the HL background and fixed it easily, and when I noticed it uses a loading background I made one from the DOD splash screen. The theme is nice BTW.

I think he means that HL1 doesn't use a weapon's holster animation when changing to another weapon. I would also like to enable it somehow.

There should be some configs about dxlevels in Half-Life 2 folder. Video cards are labeled as dxlevel 60, 70, 80, 90, 95. If you open up 60 (lowest level) there should be some settings that control the graphics (like mat_something, r_something, etc). Put them all in autoexec.cfg (or make your own) in the folder of your choice.
I had the same problem with my mom's computer ages ago. Upgrading worked, completely. However during the time I asked a few friends and they had no clue why I had the problem.
Gonna try it when I'll want to install it again. I just couldn't play with 2 fps, it looked like i had been viewing a slideshow of screenshots :D.

This also happens to me on Windows XP 32bit when I try to set my Fortress Forever advanced video settings to the lowest, it keeps them at the medium/high and i have always like 2 fps :(. Is there any solution for this problem?

1) Group name? Where is that found and how do I change it?

I you import your model in MS3D, you select the "Groups" tab and type the name you want (eg. un-chroming textures) and hit rename. You have to make UV's for that texture, but I don't know how.

Your best bet is to find some models with the same skeleton and the hands you want, then you can just use the .smd's of those hands in your models.

you can play with opengl and NOT have filtered textures you know, the name of the filter is GL_LINEAR_NEAREST or something and there's a console command to set it.
play around with the gl_ commands.

Yea, thanks.

Yes, I'm using OpenGL all the time, but I got somehow bored of it. And I see Software mode funny.

General Chat / Software render mode and default_fov

When I set TFC to Software render mode (yes, i use it because it looks so old-school), I can't see the weapon models when I use default_fov higher than 90. Although when I set it to 90 the weapons work fine, but I'm used to 120. Any ideas how to fix it?

1) Make sure the texture and group name doesn't have "chrome" in it, and you must make UV's for that texture.

2) Download SprWiz and SprView - best sprite making/viewing programs out there. For crosshairs you have to make the sprite alphatest and set the last color in pallet the color you want to be transparent. In MS paint, you must make a single color image (eg. 255 0 0 red), copy + paste your crosshair, position it as you want and set the 255 0 0 red as the last color in pallet and save it as a .bmp (make sure it's 256 color and the size is divideable by 16). Works fine for me.

Could someone please rig the TFC old player models on the new players' anims? I tried but I always fail at rigging players.

Here are the new players for anims
