Models / Skins / Half-Life 2 weapon reanimation needs fixing up
« on: April 04, 2011, 07:44:18 PM »
Looks like someone online reanimated some of HL2's weapons. You can see their last WiP vid here:

They ended up releasing them as is with no intention to fix them up. Right now, they need script edits to add sounds and attachments for muzzle flashes and shell ejection. I'm no modeller but I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to use these and play some good old HL2.

They said anyone can use/fix them as long as they are given credit. Here's the link:

Wanted to get these some exposure in case anyone interested wanted to mess with them. They said anyone can use/fix them as long as they are given credit.

I wouldn't think so.

From the preview this seems really cool. Hope the release is soon. I love the sounds.

Oh, well that's what I meant. A version without the stock. Methinks it would look really neat.

Would it be possible to get a version with the stock pulled back?

I would appreciate it.

The weapons in question:

Compiling a list of credits now. Working on a smoother skin of RuM's hands. The only perspective distortion on the shotgun is on the pump and draw anims, which is a one handed pump thing, like this:

Distortion is very mild and only lasts for a frame or so.

I don't animate, so unless there's another set I can use with the M14, they are here to stay. I actually thought the same thing about the bolt until I realized I was playing a game with flesh eating corpses in it.  :P

But anyway, still pluggin' away at this thing. Should be done soon. I'll toss up some more screens in a bit.

It's been explained many times around here. Stalker creators consider portings stuff from their game a free advertising, so they are allowing it.

Nice looking pack, I've been wanting to play TH again, but the ld models have been succesful in scarying me away :P

Oh. Well that's cool of them. I'd love to get my hands on that Sawed off. But yeah, anyone have any ideas or sources to some good zombie replacements? I'd love to release this but not incomplete.

The Makarov is not illegal. It's from S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Which is retail content. Wouldn't that make it illegal? I are now confused.

Because there's not much point in waiting for any particular TH custom model pack coming out now that A: Lost Souls is due in a few months (hopefully) and B: If you want something done, do it yourself. So I did.

I ~{:ONLY:}~ take credit for hacking, bludgeoning, editing, and otherwise futzing around with the models, and not the actual model or animations themselves. There's so many different chunks of content from different places, many of which were sourceless, I couldn't really name all of the original creators, but if I ever release this I will do my best.

Anyway, check it out!

Main menu. Taken from the original TH menu, pasted together, ran through a few filters with the title slapped on. Gamestartup music is from the Resident Evil Remake soundtrack, which will be removed if people bitch about it.

There's no real umbrella replacement yet, just fists. The arms are bare, to coincide with the Lost Souls player having bare arms. I'm using Werewolf's bare arms hack thingy.

Red's (I think) 1911 from his TH pack, which I can't actually find anywhere. This was taken from the hand change request thread. Default Glock anims, which I like.

Better shot.

Shovel. Pyroclasm's shovel, to be exact.

Some CS revolver. This is temporary.

AP9 replacement. I'm not sure what it is but it's better then the Greasegun I threw together before. It's from a The Specialists model website, but it used regular CS hands.

Another shot.

Some TS Ruger for the Taurus pistol.

Another shot.

Standard Tommygun for the 9mmar. Originally a CS P90 replacement.

Uses HD Pack muzzle flash.

Some remington from the hand change request thread. Has sweet draw and pump anims.

Tacticool M14 on OP4's sniper anims, Nomad's model work.

Cancer knuckles.

Red's dynamite. (Again, I think)

Cop guy from Red's pack.

Sheriff. Red's work.

Pilot guy.

w_9mmar. Renard's work.

w_9mmclip placeholder. From Cold Blood.

Red again.

Not sure where this is from. Anyone recognize it?

w_357ammobox from somewhere around these parts.

Medkit. Found on moddb. Dunno who made it. Anyone know?

Shotbox placeholder.

Older v_9mmar using Renard's Tommygun. I didn't like the anims so it switched to the CS Tommy.

Older AP9 replacement, from Survive in the Catacombs 2.

Greasegun for AP9 from a DOD custom model from FPSbanana. Didn't have the right feel.

Sawed off shotgun. Didn't work properly so it was axed. From a Specialists website.

Same gun with bare hands.

Taurus replacement from hand change request thread. Not enough "oomph." Also illegal.

So yeah, right now there's no replacement for the crowbar, wrench, minigun, satchel charge, or medkit. Zombie models are still the originals until some adequate replacement comes along. Sound effects are completely different. Zombie sounds, items, weapons, footsteps, etc. I will release this if I find good replacements for those things, and if everyone doesn't bitch about adequate credits. Like I said, I only hacked and modified stuff, no actual modelling and very little skinning. Anyway, yeah.

Edit: Bonus shot of the weapons sound effect folder!

This ended up working perfectly! Thank you very much!

I assume you are using Milkshape? If not then i can put something together for you to do it without.

First load the animation, then set the maximum frames to the number you want to cut out. Save this as your first animation file.

Now, reload the original animation file again. Go to tools-->Reverse animation.

Now set the maximum frames to the frame after you set it before (Eg, if the animation has 100 frames, and first time you set the maximum frames to 40, this time you will set it to 60 this time)

Now reverse the animation again and save.

Thanks, I am going to try this. If you can put that something together, however, that would be much appreciated.  :)

Would it be possible to, say, split an animation file of a weapon model at a certain point (say by a certain frame?) into two different smd files?
