Models / Skins / Half-Life 2 weapon reanimation needs fixing up

Looks like someone online reanimated some of HL2's weapons. You can see their last WiP vid here:


They ended up releasing them as is with no intention to fix them up. Right now, they need script edits to add sounds and attachments for muzzle flashes and shell ejection. I'm no modeller but I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to use these and play some good old HL2.

They said anyone can use/fix them as long as they are given credit. Here's the link:

Because there's not much point in waiting for any particular TH custom model pack coming out now that A: Lost Souls is due in a few months (hopefully) and B: If you want something done, do it yourself. So I did.

I ~{:ONLY:}~ take credit for hacking, bludgeoning, editing, and otherwise futzing around with the models, and not the actual model or animations themselves. There's so many different chunks of content from different places, many of which were sourceless, I couldn't really name all of the original creators, but if I ever release this I will do my best.

Anyway, check it out!

Main menu. Taken from the original TH menu, pasted together, ran through a few filters with the title slapped on. Gamestartup music is from the Resident Evil Remake soundtrack, which will be removed if people bitch about it.

There's no real umbrella replacement yet, just fists. The arms are bare, to coincide with the Lost Souls player having bare arms. I'm using Werewolf's bare arms hack thingy.

Red's (I think) 1911 from his TH pack, which I can't actually find anywhere. This was taken from the hand change request thread. Default Glock anims, which I like.

Better shot.

Shovel. Pyroclasm's shovel, to be exact.

Some CS revolver. This is temporary.

AP9 replacement. I'm not sure what it is but it's better then the Greasegun I threw together before. It's from a The Specialists model website, but it used regular CS hands.

Some TS Ruger for the Taurus pistol.

Standard Tommygun for the 9mmar. Originally a CS P90 replacement.

Uses HD Pack muzzle flash.

Older v_9mmar using Renard's Tommygun. I didn't like the anims so it switched to the CS Tommy.

Older AP9 replacement, from Survive in the Catacombs 2.

Greasegun for AP9 from a DOD custom model from FPSbanana. Didn't have the right feel.

Sawed off shotgun. Didn't work properly so it was axed. From a Specialists website.

Same gun with bare hands.

Taurus replacement from hand change request thread. Not enough "oomph." Also illegal.

So yeah, right now there's no replacement for the crowbar, wrench, minigun, satchel charge, or medkit. Zombie models are still the originals until some adequate replacement comes along. Sound effects are completely different. Zombie sounds, items, weapons, footsteps, etc. I will release this if I find good replacements for those things, and if everyone doesn't bitch about adequate credits. Like I said, I only hacked and modified stuff, no actual modelling and very little skinning. Anyway, yeah.

Would it be possible to, say, split an animation file of a weapon model at a certain point (say by a certain frame?) into two different smd files?

Yes, searched all over the place and I haven't really found any in depth explanations on how to mirror weapon view models, i.e, flipping them from left to right handed and vice versa. Is there a particular website or tutorial that explains this?

A replacement for the Op4 sniper rifle, presumably. Could someone slap some Barney hands onto it? I'm getting head scratching errors upon doing it myself. I figure someone else can do it rather quickly and painlessly. Thanks in advance.

This is basically the old shitty looking red HEV skin from the earliest HL2 screenshots. The skins were still in HL2's GCFs, so I thought "What the hell lol."

Right from the readme:

BGE's Different Color Alyx Eyes


Description: A very simple re-texture that changes the colors of Alyx's eyes. Her right eye is green, and the other is red. This is actually a real life hereditary condition called Heterochromia Iridium. But enough of that. :D

Simply extract the "materials" folder to your "SteamApps/UserName/Half-Life 2/hl2 directory.


Note: The body skin is not mine and is not included with the mod.

Models / Skins / Alyx with multi colored eyes.

I was just messing around with some textures and decided that it would be cool if Alyx had Heterochromia Iridium, or two eyes of different color.

I'm still working on perfecting it, though.

One problem I'm having is that if I don't make the blackness around the eye texture white, it shows up as black right on Alyx's eye instead of being transparent. (Alyx's eyes have two textures, one for the pupil and another for the eyeball.) For some reason, the game ignores the eyeball texture and uses the pupil texture instead.

I've sort of fixed it, though.

Anyway, comments?
