Firstly, I am not the authour. But I stumbled across this mod the other day. The screenshots look amazing, so I cannot wait. I thought I'd link it here to get some interest from people here, if you haven't already seen it.

Game News / [HL1] Particle Effects Alpha v1

This is it. It's in a very early stage, WOW PARTICLES >.>

Notes:

 - Their are only particles on bullet based weapons, Glock, MP5, Python, Shotgun.
 - Its quite basic so don't expect too much
 - Their will be updates - *check the thread title*
 - Made and tested in STEAM
 - Should work with WON, not tested

It is a bit of a rip off of fy_iceworld, so don't complain :p Im still learning, I'll update the map as time goes buy, mainly an experiment in waypoint path finding.

I added support for POD-Bots or any derivation of the bot.

CZ Has built in support for bots and will automatically generate the NAV file upon loading the map.

One thing that annoyed me about all the great half-life mods was that the particle effects that came with the mod were not available for regular old half-life. So I've added some particle effects. They are a WIP and I was wondering what everyone's opinion was, like good/bad idea etc. I've attached a video. Remember its a WIP.

Got this cool little tool off a german website. However it was made by Cid Highwind from the War in Europe Mod www.warineuropemod.com. Anyways, Thought it might come in handy for some one who lacks in the weapon coding department.

EDIT: Upon further inspection it appears that you will need to fill in some gaps in the code, not too much though. But it sure as hell helps alot and saves you from generating all the base code yourself. So, basically, this program generates all the basecode fro you.

As the title suggests, its a MOD for Half-Life 1 adding the tron glow. See screeenshot below for details and the download.

I'm sure many of us have seen screenshots of TRON 2.0 and noticed the glowing effect that's overlaid onto everything bright. Well, it's possible to have the same effect in Half-Life, too, using vertex and pixel shaders with OpenGL. This article will walk you through the steps in getting it working, and will suggest some alternative effects that could be done using the system we set up here.

To whet your appetite, here's a comparison of scenes before and after the glow is applied. The images on the left are without the effect, and the images on the right are with the effect. Also, here's an example of a "TRON 2.0"-esque map with four bars of bright colour without the glow and with the glow.

Due to the way that this effect is being done, it will only work if the user is using OpenGL as their rendering API. In addition, their graphics card must have support for 4 texture units and fairly primitive vertex and pixel shaders. The effect was tested on an NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200, and should work on the equivalent hardware of ATI.

Conversation / Ghost Ops Bots?

Well, I am kinda annoyed at the fact that there's only one server being run, for the current beta, which no-one can have, and no-one else plays this mod  :(

I've looked at botmans source code, and I believe I'll be able to create some playable bots for the game, hopefully as smooth as Count-Floyd's bots  ::)

I have emailed illogic about the matter and await his reply.

I cannot start the project until after my exams, which end on 12th/14th of november [can't remember  :-\]

I am not here to tell you about the creation of a mod. I'm here to tell you that the demo for this mod is going to be released this weekend. This is looking to be one of the best source mods so far, imo, and i think you guys should go check it out. I am not apart of this mod but it's being created in my hometown :p so i'm proud. Suggestions / Weapon Beam Effects

:) Hello,

Was wondering if the hl:e team was considering improving the weapon beams effects?

I'm kinda sick of seeing the dull/grey/yellow beam coming from bullet projectile weapons and was wondering if you could improve the beams for them and maybe for the sparks as well?

Just a little thankyou to the entire community here for spitting out bloody awesome models, they're all fabulous, and i'm especially looking forward to half-life enhanced, can't wait!  ;D

Thanks so much [spent the last two days downloading 100mb + of models, sweet, few rare glithces but none the less sweet]
