CFLs are also really useful in ceiling fans - the vibrations won't destroy them like it will incandescents.

Not to mention the heat that incandescents put out. Tell you what - when I need to heat my house, I'll use a heater. For the nine months out of the year when you can cook eggs on the sidewalk here in Texas, I'll use something that doesn't add anymore light in the room.

I see you both ride bikes, you get a lot of bike crashes these days, must of hurt like hell. Personally I'll be sticking with a car rather then a motorbike but then that's just me thinking.

Because not a single person has ever been injured, hurt or even killed in a car wreck, right?

Scariest moments... I'd have to say laying my motorcycle down at a turn going around forty miles an hour would rank up there. My dumb ass wasn't even wearing a helmet! Luckily, I didn't break anything and the bike still worked. But still, try sliding along asphalt at a good twenty miles an hour. Friction hurts.

Game News / Ragnarok Arena Remastered Beta 2 Released
« on: April 10, 2009, 12:31:12 PM »
I tell you what, I'm a bit of an impatient nerd. If things had gone my way, you all would have the latest version of Ragnarok Arena Remastered. Unfortunately, the version I uploaded had a small bug (Every time you shot someone, the server crashed) that would have probably been overlooked by the general public, but the team just demanded that I fix it.

Download Ragnarok Arena Remastered Beta 2 Now!
This has all happened before and will happen again, and again.

Fortunately, I listened to the voice of reason and the new beta is being released in the time frame of now. What'd we add? Well, I can summarize the list with a few simple words: A few things.

Quote from: Changelist

    * Moved to the latest Orange Box SDK, thus implementing proper third person animations
    * Proper teamplay added with identifiable teams
    * Weapon Added: Sawed Off Shotgun
    * Older weapons balanced and tweaked
    * Six new player models for the new teams
    * Five new maps, three old maps tweaked
    * Numerical health value re-added, image based health bar nixed
    * Loadout menu added, most weapon pickups removed from maps
    * Plus a handful and a half of bug fixes

Now, I know what you're saying to yourself RIGHT NOW. "Damn it, the original release was okay, but it had no servers." Fortunately, we have that covered with at least three dedicated, stable servers running right now with a new dedicated server archive released alongside the mod.

Now, a special treat for those of you who enjoy social contact while playing your game. I'll be holding a Skype conference with the team and anyone who wishes to drop by while playing the mod throughout all afternoon tomorrow.

To get in on such prestigious wastes of bandwith, simply send the Skype username "RagnarokArenaSuperFriendsClub" a friend invite. Don't have Skype? You can find it here. It's free to use and all sorts of fun stuff. And remember, if you're not there.... you're probably someone who has something better to do with a Friday evening.

ps. While reading through the old Dev Blog, I realized that I said the patch would be out before Battlestar Galactica started up again. Hooo was I wrong. The show's finale was like, three weeks ago ferchristsakes.

They didn't release a demo either.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of Crytek's failure of an engine, but they DID release a demo before both games came out.

Can we set a time and server?

I can give a rough estimate of time. Around 4PM to whenever CST. Server I can't give you because I'm not psychic. We'll just have to see. I'm also usually avaliable for a game in the evenings on weekends, though five hundred different things can come up at a time which would require my attention.

Torque has a godawful map editor though, and the terraforming is sub-par.

You take that back.

No, we'll just be playing vanilla BF2. In fact, I even created a new user profile for the occasion, so I don't have any of the unlocks.

Also, people! Start posting your Skype names!

IDTech 4 (Doom3/Quake4/ETQW Engine) will be open sourced under the GPL as soon as id's next game (Rage or Doom4) comes out, that's mainly why I recommended it. So if you want to wait another year or so...

Last I heard they'll be releasing the GPL'd Tech4 code at Quakecon this year.

(Crossposting this from HLC)

Have you heard? EA is coming out with a new Battlefield game for the PC!

Have you also heard that the max player count is 24, everyone has regenerating health and there's a total of three classes? And there's three maps? And it's been consolized to death?

So it got me to thinking. The last great Battlefield game was BF2, and that came out in 2005. Still, it's got a pretty damn good community with about two thousand games going at any given time. And there's sure to be a resurgence as a new BF game has been announced. And the heart of Battlefield 2 was getting a full squad together with everyone in Vent chatting away while blasting Arabs. So we need to do that again.

So, here's the deal. Anyone interested needs to post in this thread. You also need to get Skype, even if you don't have a microphone. And then, well, we play. I don't have a sate or time set since I have no clue when everyone is available. Shooting for every Friday though, and it'd be awesome if we could get a game going every night. Just so we're clear, I'm in the Central Standard Time Zone (GMT -6)

Don't have a microphone?

$7.88 at Wal Mart.

$5.99 at NewEgg.com. And this isn't the cheapest mic there.

Also, if you have a wired XBox 360 controller and an XBox 360 headset, just plug your controller into your PC with the headset attached. Boom, instant microphone. (This is what I do because I can have the audio from Skype come in through the headset and everything else play on my PC speakers)

"But I don't own Battlefield 2!"

Amazon dot Com has Battlefield 2 for $7.99.

They also have the Complete Collection (Comes with all the booster packs and the expansion) for $27.99. This also comes on one DVD as opposed to three CDs.
