A Very UN-Official Release
« on: September 10, 2009, 10:10:25 PM »

Since leaving the Project in late 2007 I have kept tabs on it and occasionally dropped in to say "hey" to the Team.  Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, work on the pack gradually seems to have come to a halt.  Team member's lives just moved in other directions.  So, I had brought up the idea of releasing what we have done on a couple of occasions with varied interest from the team.  We always noted we'd "discuss it", but then that never seemed to happen.  These last several months I've seen no activity at all.  This is disappointing for me having been a part of it for a couple years; I'm sure it is equally as disappointing to the rest of the Team.  I have absolutely nothing against the Team, they have done a lot of work and I hope they will harbor me no ill will for what I am about to do...

I have rounded up all the HL:S:HD 2.0 beta files from my hard drives that I could.  I have updated the Readme as best I could remember and I've uploaded it for you to download.  Many of you have waited a very long time and I feel it is the least we could do, if this project is going to die, to give you what we have.  This is not a completed pack, there are still a few remaining bugs (minor, but seemingly unfixable) and a couple missing models that were causing problems (noted in readme) but beyond that, there is a lot more content then version 1.0 had.  Call this 1.5, lol.  Whatever it is, I am uploading on my own accord, this is not an HL:S:HD "Official" release.  The Team has had no input into this decision.  It is released AS IS and is NOT SUPPORTED in any way.  The Readme was pulled from a very old build, so I'm not sure how up to date the information in it is.  I updated as much as I could remember, but if you notice something I missed please let me know so I can fix it.  A lot of work by a lot of people has gone into this and I want to make sure everyone is credited accurately.

Without further ado here is the link.  There is no telling how long it will stay up, so get it while you can.  You may redistribute as you wish so long as proper credit is given to this Team.

If you manage to fix one of the bugs, please post it here so everyone else can benefit.  Thanks for your patience and God bless.

EDIT: updated with working link 5-27-12

Some of these shots are old.  You'll notice the Scientist's glasses are transparent in-game for instance.

Awasome! I love it!
Thank you so much!

*Some things i have to say:
-Put it in an installer or in a .7z file.
-Make the security acces scanner thing like this: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/half-life/en/images/thumb/f/fa/Guard_scanner.jpg/120px-Guard_scanner.jpg

Why does it need to be 7z, 7zip users can open RAR's and both 7z and rar are very close when it comes to compression of files (Although obviously rar and 7z are better with some files than the other format)

You are welcome, glad you enjoy it.

So far as an installer, etc... perhaps you miss the "project is dead" part?  We will not be adding or adapting anything with these files, but you are welcome to do so yourself so long as we are credited for our work.

But, but.... why it's dead? Don't tell me that is because of Half-Life Enhanced!!!

Goddamnit, no it's not.

HL:E is an Enhancement of Half-Life. HLS:HD is a SDification of HL:S. Different projects with different goals.

Uh, yes?

Frakksured and some other people are working on HL:S:HD.
Matt is working on HL:E solo, to my knowledge.

... Right.

Why are you blaming HL:E then?

Because I thought you were so concerned about the HL: Enhanced that even went so far as to cancel projects just because of HL E. Sorry to thought that :(

Most people don't even check the HLE forum anymore, I think. I don't, anyways. HLE lurks in the background until it has something important to say/show, then it does it with flare and style. Currently it's lurking while Matt is working on it.

It was cancelled due to lack of developer interest and time.

HL:S HD is dead to them.
Only me and a couple of Facepunchers are keeping it alive.
