Rag doll style animations
« on: October 21, 2009, 10:37:18 PM »

Hi everyone! I'm new in half-life modding. i'm playing this game 9 years and i always wanted to make something big for it. Here are my first steps. I's nothing special. Just some rag doll style anims for humans and vortigaunt. Here is Shor video showing some of them.  Please comment.

I created a new video. here it is. how are they?

Looks good, but a bit slow IMO.

Programmed animations that resemble ragdolls always confused me. Maybe I shoot an hgrunt in the head with a high velocity stealth crossbow and he falls toward me, or I shoot a shotgun at close range and all he does is go limp. I like the idea though, it seemed to work well with CS:CZDS. How do you do that anyway?

They are slow because of stupid recording. They are normal. It is simple to do them.
If there are interested people I can continue my work on them and release them.
I also have barney death anims. I still need to make them for scientists.
I'm doing some other stuff like retexturing monsters. I'll show pics later.

Oh, I see.
Then, other than that, these animations are kickass!

If you're gonna do these for all friendlies, you should do it for all the aliens, including Race X.

Please release when you finish :)

The problem is that I don't know much about 3ds max and i don't know how to add constraints to bones. From the aliens I have done animations for islave. But It looks jiggly.

Hm... PM EndofDays. Best GolSrc modeller I've ever seen. Talk to him.

Like most 'ragdoll' anims for HL1, looks like they turn to jelly.

IMO, that is.

I think so too. I could do wery realistic animations in endorphin but i dont know how to exprort them in 3ds max. I got everything messed up.

Nice work, how did you get the grunts to "collide" with the scenery when they die? The Alien slave is a bit of weird animation, might wanna work on that to less "jellified" :P

They don't collide with surface. Sorry. I must code that. But don't know how :(

Pretty darn good job. Seek assistance from this site from those with more experience. With a little more tweaking, this will be awesome!
