Convert detail textures to WON?

Is it possible? Would the coding be immensely difficult?

Steam still uses GoldSrc; WON is build 46 and Steam is build 48. Maybe the engine can be converted into a patch?

I think it may be possible to implement detail textures on the WON version, but converting the existing engine to WON is pretty much impossible. We don't have access to the engine code, only the game code, which is very different. You're better off trying to find someone that wants to code it from scratch. Also, modern games rarely make use of detail textures, as they're generally redundant and superseded by other, more appropriate technologies, and truly high res textures. I doubt you'll find any code already available, and few people might be interested in trying to code them because of this fact, but I could be wrong.

Obviously Steam + WON use the same engine. Steam + WON games are compatible MP provided you've got all the patches, I believe.

e: yeah they are. There's a non-steam server for SC3.

AFAIK Someone already made that a long time ago, but only for personal use...it was never released.

But you probably can't have detail textures in halflife itself only in a mod.

Only for a fair few. They don't work together for Decay afaik.
