Well imo it has the same feel as HL... Kinda. Half-life has a finesse that can only be achieved on goldsource.

No, it doesn't. It's bringing a whole new feel to Half-Life.

It may be totally awesome. It might suck ass.

Who knows?

I'd honestly like the teams to work together. BMS + OBM anyways. They've got some of the same areas in game, so they should look the same. (the dam in particular)

Yeah I'll be pissed if they don't look damn close (no pun intended)...and plus OpBM has many members also working on Guard Duty. All that's left for Source is Decay, which could be vastly better on Source... Seems like it would work better on Source imo

That raises a darn good question. Why the devil don't all these modders of different mods get together and laser these mods into release? It would certainly be a good recover from the breakup of BB:S.

I know, right? It's not like they compete for sales or glory; it's passion for something they love.

Imagine this in a different context.
Think of it as if it were suggested that the US, Russia and China should merge. Sure ,the benefits of all 3 nations would be shared, but you've got 3 conflicting ideologies ,governments and assets to ameliorate, wealth to redistribute, and a whole host of policy and legal issues. It's incredibly complex stuff, which is why it's probably NOT a good idea to merge the three. Instead, the there nations should share stuff where it's mutually beneficia, which is what diplomacy is all about, and all 3 do indeed share when it's beneficial.
Same deal with OBM, GD and BMS. Assume they've got completely different structures internally, different code bases, hell even Different design goals. You can't just say "merge" and imagine that it'd be like creating the perfect mod. You're going to find that it'd become a nightmare, especially internal managment. Instead, the three mods should share where needed (I'm not entirely sure if they do or not, but because they're covering similar material there should be some overlap), but stay 3 separate entities, much like the addons were in the first place.

Wealth to redistribute? You buy into that? Geez, what has the world come to?

Aside from that, ... Toadie is absolutely correct. Well of course with mods it would be on a much smaller scale.

The idea is really just a pipe dream.

Wealth to redistribute?

Magazines that come with disks with mods on get paid to distribute them through the price of the magazine.

Which will violate several copyright-laws. I guess, the best way to distribute the mod in a non-commercial way would be Steam.

The date at the end of the trailer only indicates, which year an update or statement is released/given...

Yeah they said it won't be released this year... uhg.

"Hello Black Mesa fans!

We come to you once again with an update. It's now the end of 2009, and we know many of you have literally counted the days down until this fateful month. We are floored by the level of support you have given us and are very excited we're so close to reaching our goal.

Unfortunately, to our great disappointment, Black Mesa will not make a 2009 release.

Cynics may now rejoice, bets may be collected, and I think a mod team member has to eat his shoe, but we hope our loyal fans will forgive us and realize that the delay will translate into a better final product that's (hopefully) more easily available to everyone.

Once again we apologize for what has to be very disappointing news. We placed a 2009 deadline on ourselves to motivate us and bring this 6 year project to a close. And while we didn't quite make it, we have come very close and you can expect a complete, polished game to hit your hard drives in the near future. We'll be sure and update if anything changes. Until then, hang tight, it's coming! "
