9MM AR firing faster than it should in mods?

I played Case Closed (with M4Xf11v3's wonderful SD pack) last night, noticing that the M16 fired faster than it should. I didn't mind, taking it as a way to take out those blasted marines faster.

Today I played Residual Point vanilla, again noticing that the M4 fired faster than normal.

I didn't pay attention in Vanilla They Hunger, as the G3 is supposed to fire fast inn that mod.

However, when I played vanilla HL1 (No HD packs or anything) the MP5 fired as normal. Anyone have an explanation?

It was originally faster, but Valve changed it for some reason.

yep, but, it's true, some mods have the fire spread faster than others, or the recoil, etc. My first image was the animation of the model is very fast, but check in the lenght of the fire anims, both had the same :/

I've never tried changing the firing rate for a weapon, but take a look in mp5.cpp. Around line 140, inside the PrimaryAttack function you'll find:

m_flNextPrimaryAttack = UTIL_WeaponTimeBase() + 0.15;
Now I had a look in Half-Life and that 0.15 rounds per second seems about right. Try changing that to a lower figure, such as 0.12 or 0.1. Remember to change the other 0.15 below it too. I don't know if the code requires anything else changing, or even if you're supposed to change that bit at all. I would test it myself but I can't compile C++ on this computer.
