How can I sign up for the HL:S:HD beta testing
« on: September 14, 2005, 08:34:00 PM »

As the title suggests I would love to able to play this nice looking mod for Half-Life Source.  If you folks dont need me fine but I am curious can I use the following models in HL:S by adding them to the games model directory?

http://ambientimpact.hl-improvement.com/downloads.htm

Particularily these ones that are for Half-Life, not the expansion critters obviously.

First things first I plan to buy Half-Life 2 Game of the Year Edition. I guess I will need to get another steam account since I already bought the normal retail version of the game when it was first released. :D

Thanks for the info in advance.

MOD EDIT: Info on beta testing can be found in the "News & Updates" thread.

The link will be posted, to people that frequents(?) on the forums.
It is in beta stage so no advertising or surfing about this until it is made for public.

Btw, buy HL2 Silver or Gold over steam if you wanna HL:S. (I don't trust HL2 Collector's editon :P )

I'm kinda glad my old account got hacked, otherwise I would be stuck without HL:S because I had the retail version that I bought on release and after that account got hacked and Valve wouldn't do shit for me, I just bought the Silver package.

Actually it isn't, because you don't get DOD:S, you've been arse raped by Sierra and VALVe.

Sierra meaning Vivendi.

All I'm wondering is if they will update HL2 with HDR after Lost Coast, or if it will only work on DoD: Source and HLDM: S...

Yep HL2 should have "some" HDR effects... their are a few areas they are going to redo in the game.

They'll do the whole thing.  There isn't a point in doing 1 part and not another.  I hope they make it available to Half-Life Source.

Oh, thank the Lord. Even though I doubt he worries himself with the virtual world...

What was this topic about again? *wink wink*

Thanks for helping out with the info guys.

Details about the Beta-testing release are in the "HL:S:HD News" Thread.  You can find most the FAQ's there.

Ah, the reason Valve aren't redoing the whole of Half-Life 2 with HDR effects is they discovered some bits of the game didn't look any better when they put in HDR, in fact some areas looked worse.  It wouldn't be a good idea to put into HDR into those areas if they didn't actually make the game look any better.  But several areas of HL2 look awesome with HDR so they are putting HDR into those bits of the game.
