Normalmapped textures.

Hey all.

I think when HL2 GOTY edition is coming out I going to create normal map textures for HL:S, because as far as I can tell they werent featured in normal HL:S. I wish it was possible to create hi-res textures that would work, but you'll need to recode hl:s like hl:e did to get it work.

doesn't need to recode my friend, its on the Source Engine. Which means you can create normal mapped textures for HL: S without having to do any fustrating coding.

okay what i meant was that I can create normal maps for the current hl:s  textures. I cant recreate the textures that i make the normal maps for(the texture which the normal map is placed on). They are scaled in the maps that if I create higher resolution textures for them normally they would not appear correct. You'll need to do coding for it to work successfully.

I'm going to do it to level textures, but can surely do it to models which it isnt included on.

We have gradually been adding normal maps to models as the pack progresses.  You can see some examples in the screen shots thread, particularly on the hassassin.



Unfortunately an many models, the difference is not very noticable.  Higher res textures would definately be nice!  We'll just have to make the best of what we have.

I see that some textures already have normal maps on them(level textures)
I guess I'll just create the textures that arent included with the HD pack.

You should contact Besli if you are interested in mapping textures.  He has the full texture pack and usually fighting to find people willing to work on it.  I'm sure he would welcome some one willing to map the textures that have not been yet.
