HEV hands
« on: November 03, 2005, 10:04:59 PM »

I must say one thing I never liked about the HD hands
was tha lack of that pad-like "thing" on the hand, and I
personally loved the triangles on the fingers. Well I would like to
hear what do you think, would you be up to it?
Using the LD-HD hands(and eventualy modifing 'em?)

Code: [Select]
12:57 11/09/2005

---------------------------
HEV hands pack
---------------------------

-models:

Arms and hands Model: Ambient Impact
Cuff protectors: Renard
Arms and hands tweaks: Renard
Hand-pak ld-hd model: Renard

-Textures:

Arm Skin: Ambient Impact / Renard
Cuff skin: Romka / renard
Hand-pak ld-hd skin: Renard / Ambient Impact / Romka
Glove skin: Ambient Impact / Renard / Killaz646 / Flowers of Naivety
Re-colurs: Renard

-misc. :

Animations: Ambient Impact
Compile: Renard
Screen: Renard
Two things:
1.Re-skin em with the hd skin or hack the hands to the hd
2.Change the (I have no idea how those things ower the finger are....protectors??????) to the triangular

well not that much of an importantce but I believe it would look cooler.

They might not do this seeing how far they are into making Version 2.0. But, you never know.

We are trying to maintain the look and feel of the original Half Life so the HL2 ones are out of the question.

To my knowledge Frraksurred was looking into using a version of Ambient Impacts hands. I'll try and dig up the link for it.

Barneyinblue was working on the weapons so maybe he can comment on what hands he is using.

Apart from that I can't say much more.

Cheers flynia

flynia I gues I wasn't clear enough
I mena the  LD-HD HL1 ONLY, because of the pad thing wich is the ORIGINAL HL1  consept, and not the crappy gearbox ones. Uhm don't get me wrong I do like the hd hands all in all but i do love that thing it just adds more life to the model.
Since you did mention Barneyinblue working on the models I can't keep it to myself and ask are you gonna bring back the animation with the hand spinig the gausgun's rotor(actualy that not the best way to desribe it but...) from the original model?

Ummm currently the hands i use already do that... the animation would be part of the model itself.

I'd suggest pming barneyinblue and asking him how its going... or maybe even have a chat to frraksurred as these two would probably know for sure.

Personally i don't like the look of the sleeves on those hands... they look too... "plain" :(

The arms we are using are A.I's arms modified slightly by Besli (I have to double check the credits on that once I get home).  We are using them because they match Romka's HEV suit, which we are using for our pack (consistency).

We might consider other arms for the "Bonus Pack", but not for the HL:S:HD 2.0 release.

Thanks for the recommendation either way.

Thanks for that mate :)

I'll have a look and see what I can get them to do over the weekend... im still not happy converting them because of the sleeves :(... But depends on the community :)

Could you give a pic Frraksurred?
Flynia you really don't seem to cach my idea, the sleewe is looking kinda sh*ty becacause it's supposed to(I think, but even if it's not that is not the point),it's a combination between LD and HD hands.I don't like it either the thing I LIKE is the pad thin on the glowe do you understand me now?

That all depends on how the structure of the arms are done.

Personally i feel that they are too simular and that we are better off going with AI's ones that Frraksurred has mentioned.

I may convert them down the line but don't really have the time to do it at present... it will also meen that all the exisiting textures may need to be replaced.

As you can see AI's ones dont seem to have that texture either.

Nah you dont need to convert 'em flynia ;) you coul just hack the glowes, or just the pad thing(which is 3D not just texture, like the original), and I dont think that means replasing all textures on the model.I love a.i.'s hands but you've gotta agree the gloves suck. The sleeve is more than nice and the texture deffinitevly compliments the model , but that glove is fricken ugly, slopy...etc. it does not fit the rest of the model

In all honesty i like AI's HEV gloves ::)... So i disagree with you about that.

The pad does look cool though don't get me wrong... but are you likely to notice it ingame at all???

If you wanna convert the textures over go right ahead :)

We are after consistency as Frraksurred mentioned above though so keep that in mind.

"Cheers flynia"... Kinnda like a trademark for my posts more than anything... I think its generally light hearted and positive. I do the same in my emails and PM's i send although i often use my name in those instead of "flynia".

As for the sig... well thats ur choice. I find it unique as it expresses my opinion on steam as i have dial up internet. I'm going to look into editing it and maybe removing some of the language used over the weekend. I found it on google image search... personally I'd prefer you didn't but i wont stop you or hold a grudge if you want too.

If you do happen to make the gloves and get them working could you email me a copy of them (address in profile) so that i can add it too the bonus pack.

Cheers flynia
