Marphy Black, you know what they say: If you want something done, you'd better do it yourself.
The thing is, I don't think anyone would want to do this particular task themselves because they wouldn't bother doing something that's rather counter-productive to begin with. No one asked Valve to pointlessly convert HL1 over to the Source engine. It seemed (And turned out) that something would inveitably be lost in translation. It's like converting Wolf 3d over to the Doom 3 engine but still using all of the original graphics and sounds and trying to emulate the gameplay as accurately as possible. It serves no purpose and the end result will never be as good as the original no matter how hard you try (And it seems Valve didn't try very hard anyway).

Also, am I crazy, or is that guy's grenade nearly bigger than his head?

It's because the size wasn't adjusted. Source no longer uses a player model for weapons (p_whatever.mdl) like the HL/Quake engines did, it uses the world (w_whatever.mdl) model. And the world model for the original grenade was kinda huge.

I'm expecting some quick fixes, but nothing special. And I REALLY wish people would stop thinking HL:S/DM was supposed to be a complete remake like HL2 when it was just "Oh lookie how you can port HL maps to Source engine!". They NEVER said that they were gonna completely remake HL on the Source engine. And jesus, you got it for free when buying a bundle pack, so quit your bitching.

And I REALLY wish people would stop thinking HL:S/DM was supposed to be a complete remake like HL2 when it was just "Oh lookie how you can port HL maps to Source engine!".
In Valve's own words, HL:S is a "digitally remastered version" of the original game "enhanced via Source technology to include physics simulation, enhanced effects, and more." No where did they ever proclaim that they would be creating a very lazy and substandard port. In fact, it sounded like they were trying to potray HL:S as a being not crappy project. I could go on and on and on about how HL:S and the newly arrived HLDM:S are remarkably inferior to their 8 year old counterparts, but, uhh... actually now that I think about it, nothing is stopping me. In fact, I went on a pictorial walkthrough of the singleplayer game in HL1 and HL:S documenting all the flaws that HL:S was plagued with. I stopped after at the beginning of the "Unforseen Consequences" chapter though due to the sheer amount of pictures I had amassed at that point, though.

Also, neither HL:S or HLDM:S came free with any bundle I purchased, and even if it did, both would have still been part of the price I paid, and even that would be costing too much.

If people want us to use SD models on HLS:DM, we can easily resize the grenades and other strangely out-of-proportion models. So no problem there...

I have yet to try it, but it looks like Valve has left a lot to the community to "refine".  ;D

Maybe, after looking at the Black Mesa Project they decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Either way, it looks like we have a lot of work to do.  ;)
