HL:S:HD ver2 suggestion? involving HL:S DM

Okay, HL:S DM came out and my first thought is obviously: HD.

So I copy the models, materials, and sound folders from ..\half-life source\hl1 to half-life deathmatch source\hl1mp. I test it.. and It works. Sure, then I see player that looks like this: (not this particular map however and I don't even know how the weapons ended up HD. The w_ models maybe?)



Then I remembered.. there weren't any p_ models, the crossbow is the only exception.

So yeah, the only thing that this needs, that should be added in version 2, are the HD Player Models (but that is not bothering me much) and the p_ weapon models . But I'm pretty sure you guys considered this in HL:S: HD am I correct?  ::)

Don't worry HL:S DM will be able to include it in an extra pack that will come in Ver 2

Okay, I found out that HL:S dosen't use p_ models. It's relying on the w_ models. The HD w_ models don't show up right in Deathmatch but the LD w_ models (that are in the HL:S DM GCFs not the HL:S GCF) are the only ones that show up correctly onto the player's hands.

The HD v_ models work..

Im sure Flynia said something about just simply copy and weapon models over.
..but merely copying and pasting the w_ models won't do any good.

I don't expect the w_ models fix (or HD player models) to be in 2.0, but maybe you guys can make a version 2.5 (for fixes on HL:S DM)? I don't want to interrupt the team's work with the current ragdoll problem for HL:S, so maybe consider this for the future releases.

I'm just gonna speculate instead of annoying people with "I'm pretty sure" when the fact is im not, Im guessin The HL:S HD Project Team, will eventually just do some nip and dips here and there to make it workable with HL:S DM

If theres a demand for it, yes.

I haven't got HLS:DM yet, so I can't help you right now. We'll be finishing the Single player pack first, then 'nip and dip' to make it work in DM.

So far as the HD models working correctly in DM, particularly with various w_models, two things are at play there.  One: some of the models will have to be recompiled after some association edits have been made...

two: though moving all the HL:S:HD beta files over to DM will work in most cases, a lot of the file paths in the .vmt's would become broken and no longer work.  Again, this can be fixed with some editing.

In other words, in due time loyal and eager fans... in due time.  ;D

Getting the P_ and W_ models to work won't be hard *touch wood* so the HLS DM files will be released shortly after the 2nd pack. As for the second pack, I've sent files to Frraksurred and Flynia - so its down to them before I start work on it again.



EDIT: In fact, if someone sends me a W_ model and a Player model of HLS:DM, I could probably have something working by this weekend.

EDIT: In fact, if someone sends me a W_ model and a Player model of HLS:DM, I could probably have something working by this weekend.

I'll be having a look over the weekend at the Ragdoll that Wilko has sent me... I'm hoping to be able to simply modify the existing code via notepad to suit our newer models... ill post results of my experimentation with this here.

I will also be having a play around with copying models from our pack over to HL Source DM... I'm keen to find out what the results are... (preps for loads of Half Life Source DM system crashes... hehehe)

Wilko i will send the barney model when i get home tonight.

I'm backing up my system in preperation for reformatting, so I won't be much help real soon.   I just found out the PSU I need for my new PCI-E system will be delayed, so it may be into next week before I am up and running.  Sorry guys.
