Fire Axe [Pipe Wrench & Crowbar] [UPDATE]
« on: May 30, 2006, 06:23:45 PM »

Quote
I've decided to revisit one of the first reskins that I did for Half-Life, TEH FIRE AXE!!!11!

This release contains models for Opposing Force and also Resident Evil : Cold Blood.

Enjoy!

========================================================================
CREDITS
========================================================================

Arm and Hand textures - Millenia (taken from Toadie's 'Opposing Force Hands pack' - hand texture modified by me, Werewolf)

Axe Model & texture - Nottingham (inspired by Dires utility axe)
Some little edits - Besli

RECB hand model - RECB Team

Opposing Force hand model - Valve / Gearbox

Compile and P model - Papa Ebauns

Reskin - Werewolf

UPDATE

I have added the RECB hands that Minuit posted to the zip for the RECB pipe model.  I have also used the correctly smoothed axe model that Besli posted.

Hope this fixes some people's issues with the release.

I guess so, I don't know if the animations are the same for brainbread (I don't think they are if I remember correctly).  Also someone would have to switch the arms to the brain bread ones.

I was using this with Counter-Life a while back. The knife just didn't fit it. Go get yourself a crate and see how long it takes to smash it into a million peices with a knife.

Can you put this on brainbread animations. It is more fitting can you swing a fireaxe with one hand very well? I might do this later when I have time. Anyways it a solid release. Than again I have no idea what I am talking about anyways its nice.

Feel free to put it on other animations.  I don't have a working modeling program, and I was never any good with animations anyway.  I do agree that it would look way better with a two handed animation.

Could you possibly scale the model like 20% bigger and make it held closer to the end of the handle?

Heres some alternate skins I made...

The axe looks small to me. WHen I used it for CL I scaled it up in HLMV, but thats a cheap way of doing it. So if the model was just a little bigger it would be perfect, to me at least.

As I said before, I am modeling program impaired at the moment.  However, it would be cool if the model could be put on other anims, such as the BB ones.  I think the size is fine, but I guess that it's just personal preference, and axes do come in many sizes.

The only problem with the BB anims are that there is only one attack animation, which is a bit boring IMO...

If it were put on those crowbar animations with the two handed swing that would KICK ASS.
