I've taken the night last night and put together the correct Opposing Force tracks in the proper MP3 filename format for the Steam version to recognize, rather than use the regular Half-Life tracks which, in my opinion, sound completely wrong when playing Opposing Force. So here is the way Opposing Force was meant to be played (and heard)! This also includes the custom menu theme I made based on track 9 of the Opposing Force soundtrack. Just extract all the files in your "gearbox/media/" folder. You can also use this with Blue-Shift (because I think Blue-Shift's soundtrack is just an accidental mix up of the Opposing Force tracks and in their current state don't sound right at all in the game) by extracting them into your "bshift/media/" or "bshift_unlocked/media/" folder, depending on if you're using the Steam version or HIT's Unlocked Steam version.

33.5 Mb

Also included is a comparison list of which OP4 cd-audio tracks correspond to which HL MP3 soundtrack files that Steam uses to play instead and which OP4 cd-audio tracks correspond to which Blue-Shift cd-audio tracks if you want to do the conversion(s) yourself. For those who are interested in this and don't want to download the big ZIP click below.

Enjoy.....at last.

Fantastic. Now if only we could get proper track titles for OpFor/BS, we'd be in business.

Right. Think it's possible to contact the author(s)? He probably didn't give them names anyway.

Not bad!!
But I'm a bit confused!

Quote
OP4 02 = BS 12
OP4 03 = BS 14
OP4 04 = BS 15
OP4 05 = BS 16
OP4 06 = BS 17 (6-SECOND BLANK TRACK)
OP4 07 = BS 18
OP4 08 = BS 19
OP4 09 = BS 20
OP4 10 = BS 02
OP4 11 = BS 03
OP4 12 = BS 04
OP4 13 = BS 05
OP4 14 = BS 06
OP4 15 = BS 07
OP4 16 = BS 08
OP4 17 = BS 09
OP4 18 = BS 10
OP4 19 = BS 11
OP4 20 = BS 13

What do I have to rename them then?
OP4 02 = BS 12 (=Half-Life04.mp3)? ???

It would be more like BS 12 = OP4 02 (=Half-Life01.mp3).

I color coded the tracks to correspond to which game they're from to make it easier. ie- blue is Blue Shift, Half-Life is orange, Opposing Force is green. Maybe I'll change it so it's one list with 3 columns instead of two lists. Would that make it easier?

We do have to remane the tracks for BS right, or not?
That is what confuses me...
Thank god I have RustyLeCyborg's BS Soundtrack! But Rusty's is 128kbps and yours is 192kbps.

First look at the Half-life to OP4 List
Code: [Select]
Half-Life01.mp3 = Track 02
Half-Life02.mp3 = Track 10
Half-Life03.mp3 = Track 17
Half-Life04.mp3 = Track 12
Half-Life05.mp3 = Track 20
Half-Life07.mp3 = Track 05
Half-Life08.mp3 = Track 18
Half-Life09.mp3 = Track 09
Half-Life10.mp3 = Track 06
Half-Life12.mp3 = Track 04
Half-Life13.mp3 = Track 11
Half-Life14.mp3 = Track 14
Half-Life15.mp3 = Track 13
Half-Life16.mp3 = Track 15
Prospero01.mp3 = Track 03
Prospero02.mp3 = Track 19
Suspense01.mp3 = Track 07
Suspense02.mp3 = Track 16
Suspense03.mp3 = Track 08
Then look at the Blueshift to OP4 List
Code: [Select]
OP4 02 = BS 12
OP4 03 = BS 14
OP4 04 = BS 15
OP4 05 = BS 16
OP4 06 = BS 17 (BLANK TRACK)
OP4 07 = BS 18
OP4 08 = BS 19
OP4 09 = BS 20
OP4 10 = BS 02
OP4 11 = BS 03
OP4 12 = BS 04
OP4 13 = BS 05
OP4 14 = BS 06
OP4 15 = BS 07
OP4 16 = BS 08
OP4 17 = BS 09
OP4 18 = BS 10
OP4 19 = BS 11
OP4 20 = BS 13

Notice how Half-Life01 is OP4 02 (or track 02) then goto the Blue-Shift list and find OP4 02 and there ya go =)

So heres the Blue-Shift List
Code: [Select]
Half-Life01.mp3 = OP4 02 = BS 12
Prospero01.mp3 = OP4 03 = BS 14
Half-Life12.mp3 = OP4 04 = BS 15
Half-Life07.mp3 = OP4 05 = BS 16
Half-Life10.mp3 = OP4 06 = BS 17 (BLANK TRACK)
Suspense01.mp3 = OP4 07 = BS 18
Suspense03.mp3 = OP4 08 = BS 19
Half-Life09.mp3 = OP4 09 = BS 20
Half-Life02.mp3 = OP4 10 = BS 02
Half-Life13.mp3 = OP4 11 = BS 03
Half-Life04.mp3 = OP4 12 = BS 04
Half-Life15.mp3 = OP4 13 = BS 05
Half-Life14.mp3 = OP4 14 = BS 06
Half-Life16.mp3 = OP4 15 = BS 07
Suspense02.mp3 = OP4 16 = BS 08
Half-Life03.mp3 = OP4 17 = BS 09
Half-Life08.mp3 = OP4 18 = BS 10
Prospero02.mp3 = OP4 19 = BS 11
Half-Life05.mp3 = OP4 20 = BS 13

Wow, not too shabby.  Only snag is I usually have Ifoo (my modded Foobar) running in the background when I play any HL game so it might drown out that / vice versa.

Is there a way to turn the soundtrack on/off via console?

So heres the Blue-Shift List
Thanks, Frostbite! Saves me the trouble :). I think I will go back and make it a 3 column list like this one instead of having 2 lists...it is a bit too confusing.

I don't think so other than creating blank MP3 files with those above names. You can always bind a key to "cd stop" and press it whenever an mp3 starts playing. You can also always turn the MP3 volume all the way down to 0 in the audio options menu.

EDIT: Ok, I've updated the page to contain only one list with 3 columns (Steam MP3=OP4 Track=BS Track). Hopefully that should make things easier to look at. It's now in track number order according to the Opposing Force soundtrack rather than the Steam MP3 track number order.

Prospero02.mp3 = OP4 19 = BS 11
Half-Life05.mp3 = OP4 20 = BS 13
;D But Blue Shift uses only 12 tracks.
Look at your '\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life blue shift\valve\media' folder. Here is only 12 tracks.

Whether or not it uses 12 tracks, the WON CD version has 19 tracks (not counting the data track).
