Looks pretty good, only criticism is that there doesn't appear to be much colour variation in the blood stains (ie only one shade of red/green), that might just be me.

Doesn't that bloodsprite need to be masked and greyscaled to work? I tried making one myself in additive form so I could control the darkness but it didn't work..

Additive only works for glowing things, such as neon signs or light flares.

Indeed, I absolutely hate the default human blood colour, blood is never that red!

The blood stains are actually different shades, it's just really subtle. I did it this way so that they would look better when they're all.. well.. splattered up on each other. Instead of having like one really dark red splat right next to a rather bright one. Of course, the colors can be adjusted to your taste in Wally ^^;

As for the bloodsprite, it is greyscaled. The animated gif you see there is just a preview example that I quickly colored in so you get a glimpse of how it would look without having to run the game. It's actually a much darker red than that in the game.

I'm bumping this thread up because I've just worked out that you can do colour decals too. Simply make an image like you would a masked '{' texture, make sure pure blue is the last colour on the palette and drop it into the decals wad file overwriting one of the existing greyscale originals. I've done colour blood, grass stains, bullet holes etc with this method.

Just a heads up for your next release GamingLord  :)

Thanks for the info ^^ I may do something like that in the future. I already sorta knew about this already, but I had my reasons for not doing it. The problem with that is you lose transparency. I personally like how the blood looks when they overlap each other, or when it's splattered on a light bulb, being able to see through it.

I may try a "non-transparency" decal pack in the future, though. That could be interesting.

EDIT: I mean opacity, not transparency. Oye. The actual opacity of the decal itself, doing it with colors makes it so you can't see one decal behind the other (unless there's transparent parts. I dunno. I'm rambling XP )

I'm more a fan of red smoke for the bloodspray sprite, but oh well.

Good job on the decals!

I love the old HL blood spray look, so I will give these a try... Think they will work in DOD?

They should, if DOD uses the same ol' decals.wad

If not, it's simply a matter of copying the blood decals from this .wad, to DOD's .wad ^^

And so everyone knows, I'm currently working on ANOTHER SET! XP This one will have multi-color blood. In other words:

Human blood will have various shades of red for each splat (realistically, of course)

Alien blood may have specks of stuff in it to make it.. more... alien... looking..

... and so on... yeah. That's about it.

They are WAY too big for DOD, so I am resizing them. Now I just need to learn how to put them all together in a spr file :P

Got it.

Here are pics of my results...

Yeah they are perfect for me. I don't like the puffy kind of blood as most DOD packs are.

Oh, youu meant the sprites! I should've known when you said "spray", and not "splatter'. I must've been out of it, heh. Yeah, ii is kinda big... I do tend to have a thing for lotsa blood I guess XP

Good to see you got it working with DOD, though, heh.
