Spawn-room for sven map

Well, ive started working on my very first sven co-op map ever and i need some advice and help.

Here are some pics of the spawn-room




I havent done much but i dont know anything about mapping :(

Here are my questions:
1. I want a transparent GMAN to stand on the pillars(like on svencoop1) How?
2. How do i make the blue thingys act as spawnpoints?
3. How do i make doors?
4. How do i place models?(like weapons and grunts and such)
5. How do i make glass walls?

Please help me! And yes that yellow stripe is a slope as is the computer screen.

these questions have been asked many times before my son so i will direct to a list of excellent tutorials that have HOPEFULLY been read as many times as these kinds of threads been made.

1. Transparent? You mean translucent/additive? In the entity properties of your Gman model (use the cycler entity), change the render fx to your liking and render mode to additive.
2. Create an 'info_player_deathmatch' (or is it 'info_player_coop' for SvenCoop?) on top of the blue platforms. Just make sure they don't clip into the ground, or else the players spawn into the ground.
3. Snarkpit.net plx.
4. Weapons are weapons. Grunts are grunts. Models are just static props. So if you want to place weapons, there are entities for every weapon in the game. If you want place a MP5/M4, then simply put in a 'weapon_9mmar' entity. If you want a grunt, place a 'monster_hgrunt' entity. Keep in mind that entities like these, are point based entity. Stuff like glass, blocks, pushable crates, doors and such, are brush based entities. Brush based entities are basically entities made out of blocks that is part of your level. Point based entities are, well, like game items. Lights, pickups, monsters.
5. Turn your glass brush (block, in other words) into a 'func_wall' entity. Set the render mode to solid, and change the fx amount to whatever number you want as the opacity of the glass. 255 is opaque, while 0 is invisible. If you want your glass to be breakable (or at least make the glass cracking noise), turn it into a 'func_breakable' instead. If you want a non-breakable glass, just set the health to an insane amount.

Isn't there a special glass that can't break? I know the glass in the red office doors is unbreakable.

To make that, you make the entity a func_breakable and then set material type to "unbreakable glass".

EDIT

I need some more help!

I created an entity but it just sits there like another pink block doing nothing. I try to click it and press the properties and entity report but the pink little shit just sits there laughing at my impervious attacks at its complicatedness...

you configure all the entities in your map to do whatever it is you want them to do and then you compile the map and all the stuff works (or it should if you didn't screw up).

clearly you skipped reading those tutorials as they neatly explain everything

I read them but i want those pink blocks to be barneys and scientists and monsters etc. Its not that i really want them to do anything(yet) but those tutorials at VERC didnt really help me... i couldent understand how to configure the entities!

I...They won't do anything in Valve Hammer Editor. Why would they? Valve Hammer Editor only gives you a rough visual representation of what the level will look like in Half-Life. Just make some test maps first, and you'll get the hang of it.

Some mods have configured their fgd's to show models and sprites, but in order to do that, you'd have to set up the model in the entity's properties.

Well thats where i fail... i dont know how to set up an entities properties! But ill try around and see if i can get it working, though that video would be a lifesaver!

You don't really need to set up much at all if you want them to act normally really. I didn't get the video last night, because I was doing homework, and I can't do it right now because I'm at College. I should be able to get it to you in a few hours time.

No problem, iam just glad to get some help ;D

Ive came far on my map now imo. Iam gonna upload it here just to show you guys.

The teleporter room's third teleporter will be broken and kill you if you enter :P

The thin concrete walls should be windows but ive been to lazy to do them.

If you use my osprey(doubt it) Then credit me and Romka. Well, mostly romka, all i did was to remove the stars and colour it green
