How to make model with temp colors...
« on: September 26, 2007, 08:14:39 AM »

OK. I was making some models... And I was trying to make them with temp colors (like the old models from half-life) but I don't know how... For example I wont to make the HD Gordon (player model) with temp colors... does anyone know how to make it?

And second question... If I have models with temp colors... how can I make them with normal (not temp) colors?

Thanks for your help.

I think , i'm not sure:
You mean those two colours, right? I think you just need to rename the textures to DM_Base, like on Valve's models. If that doesn't work, i don't know. To make models with temp colours normal, just rename the textures.

I think you're talking about team colors. All I remember is a fan-made tool to change colors. You might find some useful information in SDK (or you can use the colors from some random mode).

Edit: Gotcha! Here is a tutorial to do team colors.

Well, no. This one is about reskining the models. I mean like in the default (not modifiesd) Half-Life 1 The player models has temp colors (you can chose the colors of the model) Just like in TFC (you have only one model for example "demo.mdl" and you have 4 - or more teams.. an this don't mean to have 5 models! You have one with temp colors...

I remember here there wes a helmet player model with temp colors (well, i can't faind it now..  :-\)

Rough guide to it, may take you a while to figure it all out.

For Team colours what you want is

key:
remap - color witch is set in game by the render
tcs -top color start
tce -top color end
bce -bottom color end

remap#_tcs_tce_bce - the hash can be anything from 1 to 9 or a to z

as a texutre name.

Example:
for demo.mdl

remap1_160_191_223.bmp

Did you even read the whole article? It explains the team colors, and colors you have to use.
