Editor321, I agree with everything that review said except I probably would have given it 3 out of 5 stars for replay value. The fact the rooms were a bit cramped and linear is a bit of a turn off though, and one of the best parts was when the spetnaz escaped from the lab as I found they would flank you. I thought it was good and felt slightly disappointed that I didn't see it again.

Nige111 - looking forward to the weapons!  ;D

Funny story, I originally gave it a 3/5 but my editor and I got talking about it and we agreed to bump it down to 2/5. The reason I had it set at 3 was to avoid the mass amount of flames I'd thought I'd get, but oh well.

I think with Paranoia, its all about whether or not you were actually looking forward to this mod. When I first heard about it I looked at the screenshots, thought "oo pretty, looks alright" and carried on with my life. Alot of people became very very interested in this mod and they were the ones who were ultimately disappointed. I played it without first getting involved with the hype and I had a blast. Many of you have been looking forward to this for ages and felt let down.
I know what I have just said is pretty obvious but I felt it was the main reason a fair few people didnt enjoy the mod. They were caught up with the hype and expected a hell of alot more than was delivered.
So the moral I suppose is, in the future dont get so excited about a modification of a 9 year old game. Or something.

I wasn't disappointed either, but then I wasn't expecting anything amazing...

I was talking to BuZZer last night and he was saying that the game was supposed to be twice as big but had to be cut down due to to the workload, because he insisted on mapping all the levels, indeed he made all 53 levels for the mod.. now that's dedication!

Dedication yes - as a mapper I can certainly appreciate the effort input, though most other SP mods have a similar output from a single person (this isn't the case in Source though).  He reused the same levels a few times though, so its no more remarkable than your average SP mod.

I tend to ignore hype, though I admit I did contribute to hyping it up myself prior to release!  I learnt the lesson of hype after MGS2.

If I use this mod's opengl.dll (or whatever its called) for svencoop will I get banned if I join a VAC server? Will I get banned for joining a VAC server on this as well?

I'm not sure. Their FAQ says it will be detected as a cheat by VAC, but Buzzer has also stated that it won't get you banned.

So yeah... I dunno. Use at your own risk I guess, although the mod still does run without the dll.

I suppose.

Are there actually ANY VAC servers? Or are they all? O.o

What we need are human (or monkey, baboon, cat, corn) test subjects!  :P

Move opengl32.dll from your Half-Life folder to somewhere else to avoid the ban, then put it back again if you want to play Paranoia, it's not rocket science.
