How to rig in 3ds max!

Okay, since people really don't know shit about 3ds max, I thought I'd teach you some of it lol

--Before Actually Rigging (Optional)--

It's actually quite simple, first of all load up a scene and create a regular box. And convert it to a mesh.


Then simply place a bone from the System Tab (First Tab on top tab list selected, and last tab on the bottom tab list in the right corner of your screen.)

Once you got the basic scene together (A simple box, with a bone.) You can move on to the actual rigging.

--Rig0rzing!--

Add the skin to the meshes modifiers. (Second Tab)

Then click on skin and click the add button. Select the bone (Bone01 for me), and click Select.

Open up the list for the Skin modifier, then click on Envelope. Uncheck envelopes and cross sections and select Vertices

Then simply click on a vert on the model and type in the number 1 in Abs. Effect (Under Weight Properties Groupbox)

And there you go you've rigged a vertice onto a bone!

For Half-Life 1 you'd simply use 0 and 1, but for games with bone weights like Half-Life 2 you can use 0.0 - 1.0 (Ex/ 0.5 or 0.78) 
Of course you'd have to have two bones on one vertice for 0.1-0.9 since it all has to equal up to 1.0.
