Really, the M4 could get its own ammo (unless it really uses 9mm ammo, I don't know) and be slightly stronger while the Mp5 loses its GL to be a more early game weapon. What do you guys say?

To add a side note, I think the MP5 should have a larger clip size (45-50?) and wider spray radius, while the rifle has a lower clip size (25-30) and a smaller spray radius. I would argue for the MP5 to have the GL, since the M4 rifle will already have alot of pluses for power and accuracy, while the MP5 has pluses for clip size and nades. Seems to work well in HL2 DM.

Otherwise, good idea.

it uses 5.56 NATO ammo, but there are some (IIRC) variants designed to use 9x19 and other rounds. Irrelevant, but..



TBH, tho, I just say "go with one 9mmar + let people choose the model". Drop mag capacity to 30, however. (That's standard for MP5, M16/M4, AK47, afaik), and maybe up the ROF a bit, or something.

However, I'd like a useful secondary fire for the pistol..... I played through HL1 more than a couple times without even REALIZING that it had autofire capability. Silencer on/off, maybe?

Well, if you had both MP5 and M4 you'd have to adjust a lot of things, so they were balanced and realistic. For example, remove the GL of the MP5 I think that's actually hardly possible to attach  :D. Lower damage,  higher Rate of Fire, faster draw and reload for the mp5. l , but well, you can't put those things into half life. (without a big effort of coding)
Normal clip size for both weapons is 30 AFAIK.

About the Pistol:
The coolest thing would be if the primary fire was semi-automatic, like in HL2 and secondary full auto ( Spray n' pray)

M4 has its own ammo already.

We have already decided to do this in the Half-Life campaign. Although the M4 weapon is still available to mappers (and cheaters)

We are considering doing Opposing Forces and Blue Shift too. And people can always make their own campaigns too

HL2's didn't -HAVE- a secondary fire. It's just "click as fast as you can" while trying to keep the crosshairs on their chest.

For example, remove the GL of the MP5 I think that's actually hardly possible to attach  :D.

Yes it is. ;_;

Not a MP5SD/M203 like in HL, but it's possible.

Yes it is possible, I know, it's just uncommon. I doubt H.E.C.U. would use that.  :-\

To me, automatic means "hold the button down + it'll spray bulletz", not "click repeatedly + it fires quickly"

Correct. Originally we were going to have them both but it was difficult trying to balance them and we decided to try and keep as close to the classic HL feel as possible. Which meant not having the m4 in the maps.

The m4 is there for any mappers that want to use them in custom maps though.
