PC wont start up
« on: September 20, 2008, 11:10:37 AM »

So my CPU just turned itself off then it wont turn back on, it's been 2 days now. I can see a green light on the motherboard so I guess it's not the power can anyone help me on this? When I press the power button it doesn't do anything, no fans spinning, nothing.  :(

Remember that new parts requuire a load of power. So you should see to get a new power unit as well.

Depends how big his current PSU is, chances are that from those specs he won't need a new PSU. All depends on what he currently has though.

Sounds silly have you checked the Power Button is still plugged into the motherboard, also if you can see a green light this does not rule out a power supply issue!!!
I recommend that you borrow a psu from another pc, if its not that and there are no beeps from the motherboard would appear to be the issue can you see any capacitors that appear to have popped?
Also try just put the basics into the pc and see if it will start up, i.e disconnect everything apart from the psu take out the memory and leave the processor in if it beeps add more hardware on until it fails.

My PC is 7 years old.
It got too dusty like a year ago and part of it got on fire when I turned it on.
It got fixed though.

I really don't know where to connect all those wires so I don't want to remove any of them.

The guy that was gonna build the new CPU with 8800GT said that 8800GT costs around 500$ lmao, better go to another guy... This one's scamming cash, I check the prices and it's only 170-270$ in nvidia.com.
