muzzleflash for Silenced v_9mmAR
« on: October 19, 2008, 03:34:05 PM »

A simple request. Anyone have a muzzleflash (if any) for a silenced weapon, preferably for the v_9mmAR?

I have a silenced MP5 and I'm not too keen on adjusting attachments on the weapon to hide the muzzleflash.

I guess I can make one, but why don't you simply turn off the muzzleflash on the silenced weapon? Silenced guns don't give off muzzleflashes.

Can this be done for HL1 and if so, how?

Take this example, a QC file of my 9mmhandgun.

Code: [Select]
...// 9 animation sequence(s)
$sequence "idle1" "idle1" fps 0 loop
$sequence "idle2" "idle2" fps 0
$sequence "idle3" "idle3" fps 0
$sequence "shoot" "shoot" fps 60 { event 5001 0 "21" }
$sequence "shoot_empty" "shoot_empty" fps 60 { event 5001 0 "21" } { event 5004 3 "weapons/p226_slideback.wav" }
$sequence "reload_empty" "reload_empty" fps 50 {
  { event 5004 11 "weapons/p226_magout.wav" }
  { event 5004 26 "weapons/p226_pickup.wav" }
  { event 5004 49 "weapons/p226_magin.wav" }
  { event 5004 69 "weapons/p226_sliderelease.wav" }
 }
$sequence "reload" "reload" fps 50 {
  { event 5004 11 "weapons/p226_magout.wav" }
  { event 5004 26 "weapons/p226_pickup.wav" }
  { event 5004 49 "weapons/p226_magin.wav" }
 }
$sequence "draw" "draw" fps 60 { event 5004 0 "weapons/p226_pickup.wav" } { event 5004 8 "weapons/p226_drawcock.wav" }
$sequence "holster" "holster" fps 30

// End of QC script.

At the shoot animations, it says certain events.

Code: [Select]
$sequence "shoot" "shoot" fps 60 { event 5001 0 "21" }
Simply delete the "{ event 5001 0 "21" }" line in the shoot animations to remove the muzzleflash event from that specific animations sequence.

He's right, it worked for my M4 on the grenade anim.

Well, now that you mention it I remembered trying this a while back, but it didn't look great. Still feels like something needs to be there.

Something similar to the silenced MP5 in COD4, with the small traces of smoke exiting the silencer;

That ideally is what I am looking for.  ;D

Ah cool idea! I guess I can make a smoke muzzleflash.

EDIT:

Try this. I'll make another one if this doesn't suffice, it might not work the way it's supposed to.

Nice one.

It's much better than what I came up with. Will check back later with comments. ;D

Well it was a bit too big, so I scaled it down and darkened the outer areas of the sprite, and its perfect. Thanks again.

Ah, I feared it was too large myself. I'm glad it came out well with your edits ;D

I can't get a good screen shot. It doesn't seem to want to appear!

I attached the sprite with my edits, scaled down and darkened the outer areas.

You're thinking of flash suppressors. Silencers do make a muzzleflashes. Altough not as large ones.

Also, this topic is on the front page so it wont count as a bump right?

I'm not gonna slam you down over it, half the forums have threads on the first page that are a year old
