trigger_cdaudio, howto?
« on: November 30, 2008, 09:36:24 AM »

So, how to use trigger_cdaudio?
I suggest that's what is responsible for music in hl1 on Steam version.
Are there any special requirements for the sound used by this (like 8 bit, mono, for ambient_generic sounds)?
Could it be looped?

Have you tried replacing *.mp3 files (you can find them in "valve/media")?

Note: I suggest you to find a better system to make game play *.mp3 files, because Valve's system is buggy.

Here are 2 tutorials on how to add MP3 support to a mod:

The first tutorial teaches you how to add an easier MP3 system http://am.half-lifecreations.com/forums/index.php?topic=184.0
The second tutorial teaches you how to add dynamic music to your mod - ie the music changes when you start a battle ;D http://am.half-lifecreations.com/forums/index.php?topic=191.0

I hope these are better than the Valve system!
