I think it'd be best if he just died, as it kills barneys and scientists instantly, and they're only human, just like the grunts. With ragdoll physics, there'd be no need for any new animations too.

Yes, it must be one of those homosexual inanimate objects I've been hearing about. They don't have souls or any other organic parts, but that doesn't stop them loving the cock!

HAHAHAHA! You know this animation when the grunt gets tossed by the alien grunt? Imagine that happening each time a bullsquid smacks an NPC!

Then trying to get up wuld need a new anim .. though.
Yeah.. and? Hello, there's a total of two animators (3 if you count AI) on the team. Animations aren't REALLY a problem.

Damn it you're right... You could use some help at coding though... How many mappers do you guys have? Mappers and modellers is what the most people are...

When a soldier is hit by the well-muscled hind end of a bullsquid, they slide back a foot and keep shooting.
Shouldn't they be knocked over?
Only one problem there people: The squid only does that on low-health victims to gib them and then eat them. If they're high on health, it will only bite or spit them. I think it's a coded feature.

There is no tail-claw!

I really wish people would stop updating the HD model and instead improve the original, more half-lifey models.
By the way, Bullsquids have 6 tentacles, nearly flat disc eyes, and a mostly non-protruding stomach. Their original skin is better, too.

Wikipedia, the collective knowledge of the people, classifies the body of the bullsquid of Half-Life as thus:
Quote from: Wikipedia
The body of a bullsquid is vaguely similar in appearance to that of a small sauropod, with two muscular legs and a thick tail that tapers to a point. The thorax abruptly joins the creature's head with no neck or other visible separation. A typical specimen stands roughly one metre tall and about two metres in length. A light-colored, irisless eye is mounted on either side of its head.

There is no specific reference to the existence of hooks on the bullsquids' tails. Certain individuals may have such an abnormality, however it remains that the standard bullsquid specimen has none more than the spurs on the tips of its knees of adults. HL:E should not classify all bullsquids as having hooks on the tails and a thick, protruding pot-belly with dome eyes and an ugly skin. Your suggestion of impaling upon the tailspike is flawed in that not all bullsquids possess such a weapon, and impalation would not occur without the spike.

The hook was on the ps2 Bullsquid and all sequential HD releases... If I'm not mistaken...

I've been whipped while on full health.
I think the squid merely alternates attacks a bit.

no. That hit would have gibbed you. I'm certain of it, though it might have been a code deviation.

Right you are, my communist friend. There are also NO tentacle claws. Look at the HL2 beta bullsquid. The anatomy is identical to the Low-Def model, and only the colour varies, probably because ofthe enviorment.

You could always include two kinds of bullsquids. For instance, have a stronger version with spikes on the tail and mouth appear later on in the game.

Weren't the Bullsquid and Bullchicken the two variants in the early versions of Half-life? One was bright yellow/purple, if I remember correctly...
